Religion and Morality

An exploration of the relation of religious life
to morality, through the study of some of different views on the formation of
conscience and moral judgment, from such thinkers as Marcus Aurelius, Augustine,
Kierkegaard, Levinas, Dewey, Marcel, and Simone Weil. The course will include
some consideration of writers in the disciplines of literature and Eastern
traditions as well as philosophers and theologians.
