Welcome to New Students

Welcome New Students!

Welcome to Fordham College at Lincoln Center. All of us in the Student Life area are excited for you to join us for the Orientation program and all of the events and activities we have planned for the upcoming year.
As the dean of students at a Jesuit university, my role, and the role of all of us in the Division of Student Affairs, is to build upon the efforts of our faculty to extend learning beyond the boundaries of the classroom into the “laboratory” of New York City. The various policies and processes for which we are responsible are designed to be infused with educational value and to strengthen an intellectual community that balances rights with responsibilities. In establishing high standards through these policies and procedures, we hope to effectively train men and women for and with others. In turn, these responsible citizens may assure the same qualities in future generations.
Student Affairs departments are responsible for many of the activities that are not directly related to your academic courses. As dean of students, I directly oversee the area of Student Affairs referred to as Student Life: the Office of Student Leadership and Community Development, New Student Orientation, Commuter Student Services, the Office of Residential Life, Judicial Affairs and Alcohol and Other Drugs Education. Through these offices and others, we expect to work with you to create a rich and varied culture of participation both on and off campus. For this experiential learning to occur, you must choose to participate. Through your involvement, you can not only fully realize your educational potential, but also assist in the operation and decision-making of our University. It is our expectation that you will fully embrace this choice and take advantage of all of the opportunities to grow and develop intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically.
Welcome to Fordham; we hope you quickly embrace the community you have joined as your own and begin to make your mark as we learn and grow together!
