The Offices of Career Services and Experiential Education engage and challenge students to grow both personally and professionally in pursuit of life-long habits of careful observation, critical thinking, creativity, moral reflection, and articulate expression.

Experience sits at the epicenter of a Jesuit education. Students are encouraged to embrace the world with a restless curiosity, passion, preparation, and a continuous connection to the human experience. Career Services and Experiential Education staff actualize the mission and realize the vision through an intra-divisional student affairs 4-year approach to career education and development designed to create a University-wide career planning and professional development experience that resides at the crossroads of academic learning and professional life. Our work involves the development and delivery of a comprehensive student-centered array of counseling, programs, resources, and events designed to foster self-awareness, career exploration, and reflective thinking that integrate liberal arts education in a Jesuit tradition with the dynamic realities of the twenty-first century.

Workshop Series: Workshops are routinely facilitated on topics such as Resume and Cover Letter Writing, Interviewing Skills, Career Exploration, the Job Search Process, Applying to Graduate School, Ethics and Etiquette in the Job Search Process, Networking and much more!

Internship Program: Internships offer short- term exposure to a student’s anticipated career field. Internships are offered to all majors and are available during the fall, spring and summer semesters. Typically, students begin internship exploration during their sophomore and/or junior year. In order to be eligible to obtain an internship through our office, students are required to attend an Internship Information session a semester prior to the start of the semester they plan to intern. Internship Information Sessions are offered at the start of each semester.

Job Postings: All students are encouraged to register with CareerLink through our office to view online job postings. By doing so students will have access to part-time, full-time, summer and internship opportunities online 24/7. Additionally, students will receive weekly emails from our office notifying them of special events, resume submission deadlines, additional career opportunities, etc. Before registering with CareerLink students must complete a World of Work workshop and a Resume/Cover Letter workshop. Visit fordham.edu/career to view the most current schedule.

On-Campus Recruiting Program:
Several hundred companies/organizations from private, public and government sectors visit Fordham University for professional recruiting purposes during the fall and spring semesters. Seniors have the opportunity to interview with organizations during their final two semesters for full-time career opportunities that begin after graduation. Additionally, Career and Internship Fairs are offered during the fall and spring semesters. Students have the opportunity to network with employers representing various industries for internship and full-time career opportunities. Before participating in On-Campus Recruiting students must complete a Professional Etiquette workshop and an Interview Skills workshop. Visit fordham.edu/career to view the most current schedule.

The Career View Program: Unique to Fordham, our Career View Program offers students a first-hand introduction to the world of work and the culture of organizations by visiting companies representing a variety of industries in profit and not-for-profit sectors. Company visits are scheduled throughout the semester and in order for students to participate they must sign up in advance. During this program, Alumni and/or recruiters provide an overview of the company/organization, a tour of the facility, and a networking exchange for students and professionals. Companies schedule a convenient time period to provide a valuable on-site learning experience for Fordham students. Depending on the organization we visit, the size of the group will vary, but is typically 15 students per visit. Many students, in the past, have been able to secure an internship through participation in this program.

Professional Networking/Alumni Panel Events: Panel Events are designed to provide useful career information to students of all majors. Fordham alumni and other successful professionals return to Fordham to share their expertise with students and network forfuture career opportunities.

For additional information concerning any of the above mentioned programs or our services, please contact our office directly and/or feel free to stop by and visit us. Our staff looks forward to the opportunity to best assist you in making the most out of your experience at Fordham University.
