counseling and psychological services
At Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS), we know that students sometimes experience challenges and stressors that can complicate and undermine success in their academic and personal lives. Some reasons that students seek counseling sometimes include anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, procrastination, financial problems, academic difficulties, identity issues, problems with relationships with family, friends, romantic partners, or roommates, trauma, sexuality, eating habits or body image, alcohol or substance use, or bereavement.
Many students find it helpful to talk about and figure out their difficulties and challenges in a non-judgmental and confidential setting with a trained professional. CPS offers short-term individual counseling, group counseling, psychiatric services and medication management, and consultation services for anyone who is concerned about a peer, friend, or student. We also provide referrals to external providers for students who may want or benefit from longer-term services. CPS also organizes outreach events and workshops to enhance the emotional wellness of our community.
Counseling and Psychological Services are:
• Confidential! Not a part of the student’s educational record
• Free! All services are offered to students at no charge.
• Available to all Fordham students!
