About the Writing Center

The Writing Center provides more than a proofreading service. Tutors work with students on a variety of logical, rhetorical, and grammatical issues. They assist students with any type of writing from the curriculum, from conception, to composition, to completion. The aim is not only to perfect an individual essay; instead, the tutors aim to help students develop the tools to become a better writer. This is a free service available to all students.

Generally, the Lincoln Center Writing Center is open Mondays-Thursdays from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM and Fridays from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM, but these hours may vary slightly each semester. The Writing Center is open throughout the semester and reading days and closes when final exams begin. Please feel free to contact us at the number below if you have specific questions about the Center's hours. The Writing Center is located in the Lowenstein Building, Room 302e. We reside in one of the private study rooms. You may reserve up to an hour on any given day and as much as an hour and a half per week. To sign up for a session of either one-half  or one hour, go to www.fordham.edu/writingcenter and follow the instructions. If you have any questions, please call us at: 212-636-6417.

If you cannot attend your session, log on to the online sign-up site and cancel your appointment. Please be on time. If you are not here at your appointed time, your session may be given to someone else or simply cancelled. Walk-ins are welcome whenever space is available. If no tutor is free to help you, please visit the online sign-up system to find an available slot that suits you.
