A Beauty Restored

The University Church, one of the finest examples of Gothic construction in the Bronx, was reopened on Oct. 13 with a Mass celebrated by His Eminence Edward Cardinal Egan, J.C.D., D.D., Archbishop of New York. Fordham Ranks High on Fulbright Scholars’ List

Fordham University is ranked ninth among schools in the Mid-Atlantic whose students received Fulbright scholarships in 2004, with seven Fordham students awarded Fulbrights as of Sept. 9. That doesn’t include an eighth Fulbright awarded to a Fordham professor to study in France.

The 2004 Fulbright list is produced by the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. For a complete list, click here.

Fordham’s surge in the number of Fulbrights is not unexpected. Six years ago, the Office of Prestigious Fellowships (now called the Saint Edmund Campion Institute for the Advancement of Intellectual Excellence) was created to increase the number of scholarships awarded to students. For a detailed look at efforts to boost prestigious fellowship awards, see “Promoting the Academic Vision,” in the Sept. 2004 issue of Inside Fordham.
