FACES IN THE CLASS OF 2003
Two years ago, when Hattie Mae Williams was a sophomore, she was thrilled to perform at the Guggenheim Museum as a member of the Avila Weeks Dance Company. A graduating senior in the Alvin Ailey/Fordham Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance program, Williams is currently dancing professionally with the Kevin Wynn Collection and hoping to launch a career as a choreographer.
“It’s been very difficult, but it has been a great learning experience and I met a lot of people in the dance field [who are] going to help my career in New York City,” said Williams, who will perform in the Equus Dance Company’s production of “Dancing with Horses” after graduation.
On May 12, Williams showcased her choreography at the Ailey School in a show titled “A Quiet Slumber Party.” Previously, her choreography received a rave review in Backstage when it was performed at the Merce Cunningham Studio.
Inside Fordham is pleased to highlight eight members of the class of 2003 who, like Williams, have enriched the greater Fordham community with their hard work, passion and dedication.
