"The first time I heard about DPL's was when I applied to go on the retreat. Attending the retreat was amazing; it was a safe space where our identities were not only tolerated but celebrated. By participating in dialogues, I also got a chance to engage in conversations that I would have probably never engaged in. Thanks OMA!"

"The reason I became a Diversity Peer Leader is because there is a lack of knowledge in our nation today on the existence of institutionalized oppression aimed at minorities; I wanted to make a difference to this situation and reduce its prevalence. Coming from a biracial background, I also became a DPL to aid others with discovering their identity and their role in the world at large."

“I had always wanted to be involved with the OMA, but it was after participating in the Colorism Deeper Dialogues at Lincoln Center that I finally applied to be a DPL. It is not easy to find a safe space on campus where students can openly talk about issues such as race, gender, identity, discrimination, and social justice, as well as be exposed to different cultures. For this reason and for many more, I consider the OMA so important and necessary to our community.”

"I became a DPL in order to foster dialogue about issues of race, gender, sex, sexuality, ableism, and other social structures that inform human relationships. “As a queer person, a Catholic, and a Fordham student leader, I find myself called into ever-greater solidarity and further questioning of the world and its many intersecting parts. I was looking to become better-equipped to facilitate dialogues, navigate triggers, and try to become a better listener. Anyone who is committed to social justice, inclusivity on campus, and leadership at Fordham should consider being a Diversity Peer Leader.”
