Beginning in September 2009, the Office of Substance Abuse Prevention and Student Support at Rose Hill formally implemented the OSAPSS Safe Birthday Campaign. With the assistance of the Office of Student Leadership and Community Development, Office of Residential Life and the Fordham Peer Educators, the Safe Birthday Campaign addresses high-risk drinking birthday celebrations by first-year students and students turning twenty-one.
Students receive a card prior to their birthday that contains self protective strategies (safe drinking tips), a personalized message (from their Resident Assistant, Commuter Assistant or Peer Educator) and a list of popular locations in New York City to celebrate without drinking alcohol.
If you are interested in learning more about the campaign and the current evaluation conducted by OSAPSS, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For some fun ways to celebrate your birthday, visit our Passport
Guide to New York City website or stop by OSAPSS, located in the lower level of Alumni Court South, to pick up a copy while supplies last.
