Office of Student leadership and community development

The Office of Student Leadership and Community Development is located in Room 408 of the Leon Lowenstein building at the Lincoln Center Campus of Fordham University and shares an office suite with the Office of Student Affairs, Dean of Students and the Office of Multicultural Affairs. The Office of Student Leadership and Community Development is responsible for the supervision of campus clubs and organizations, New Student Orientation, the Alcohol and Other Drug Education Program (AODE) and Commuter Student Services. The staff of the Office of Student Leadership and Community Development organizes leadership development programs such as Leadership Weekend, Fordham University Emerging Leaders (FUEL) and the Transitions Senior Year Experience Program.

The purpose of the Office of Student Leadership and Community Development is to help fulfill the University’s Jesuit mission to educate the whole person. We provide students with meaningful interactions outside of the classroom that connect students with their peers and with other members of the University community. These interactions help students to unify their educational experiences with their lived experiences, provoking critical thought and motivating them to develop a sound system of values. Believing in the importance of service in its many dimensions, we offer our students opportunities to work collaboratively with and for the benefit of the University, and local and world communities. This collaborative service promotes each student’s personal growth toward individual excellence.

By registering and supporting a wide variety of clubs and organizations, as well as through the emphasis placed on leadership training and development, the University reinforces its commitment to stimulate the intellectual and personal growth of its students. The University values and encourages individual participation in any of the numerous clubs and organizations currently registered. Opportunities exist for membership in academic societies, peer education and advocacy organizations, cultural organizations, publications, and student government.

A list of current clubs and organizations, the club registration guidelines, and a guide to the funding of these groups can be obtained in Room 408. Students with suggestions and ideas for improving current clubs or starting new ones are invited to discuss their ideas with the Director of Student Leadership and Community Development in Room 408. The Office of Student Leadership and Community Development publishes a weekly Events Calendar that details upcoming programs and activities at Lincoln Center offered by the office and student clubs and organizations. The Office of Student Leadership and Community Development provides a number of services, including discount and complimentary tickets to Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, recitals, and films; and locker rentals.
