At Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS), we recognize that college can be stressful and challenging, and that students can sometimes experience difficulties which complicate and undermine their academic and personal success. . Some reasons students seek counseling include, but are not limited to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, procrastination, financial problems, academic difficulties, identity issues, problems with family, friends, roommates or other relationships, and problems related to trauma, eating habits, body image, alcohol/substance use, sexuality or bereavement.
Many students find it helpful to talk about and explore their challenges and difficulties confidential setting with a professional counselor. CPS offers short term individual counseling, group counseling, psychiatric services, and consultation for students who are concerned about their peers and friends. We also provide referrals to external providers for students who may want or benefit from longer-term or specialized services. In addition, CPS organizes and provides workshops, presentations and other outreach, educational and prevention programs to the university community to enhance the psychological and emotional wellness of our student body.
Counseling and Psychological Services are:
• Confidential! Files are not a part of the student’s educational record.
• Free! Offered to students without charge.
• Available to all Fordham students!
