Resident Assistant Position

The Office of Residential Life at Rose Hill provides a variety of Residence Halls designed to promote growth within our students.  Resident Assistants demonstrate leadership abilities and a deep interest in serving the Fordham community.  Resident Assistant is instrumental in developing a strong community in the hall he or she serves.  The Resident Assistant sets an example for fellow students by enforcing and personally abiding by all University and Residential Life policies. 

The Resident Assistant occupies a unique role as a member of both the student body and the Division of Student Affairs.  The Resident Assistant serves as a liaison for each constituency, a position that enables them to effectively represent the others’ perspectives. The Resident Assistant position is arguably the most challenging and rewarding leadership position at the University and best embodies the Jesuit, Catholic commitment to serve as men and women for and with others.

  • A Fordham GPA of 2.5 or higher (First Year Students 3.0)
  • In good standing with the Office of Residential Life

Complete a one page, double spaced essay for each of the following questions. 

1. Personal Statement and Leadership:
How have your experiences shaped your decision to apply to be an Resident Assistant?  How will you exemplify your leadership qualities for the residents?  How will you be a leader at our Jesuit, Catholic institution?

2. Community Building and Responsibility:

Education takes place both inside and outside of the classroom. How will you educate residents outside of the classroom, and how will you establish a positive influence within your community?

3. Diversity:

How will you encourage a community that respects and embraces diversity among individuals within your community?
