Science Integrated Learning Community

Science Integrated Learning Community

Are you considering a pre-health or science major? Are you interested in living on a floor designed to help you succeed in your chosen major, where events and activities related to science are brought right to your floor and where tutors, Resident Assistants and fellow students support one another inside and outside the classroom?  The Science Integrated Learning Community (SILC) is that place.  A partnership between the Dean's Office of Fordham College at Rose Hill and the Office of Residential Life, the SILC is staffed by two Resident Assistants and two live-in tutors from the pre-health or science programs. Science-focused programming is planned throughout the year:

Ø  Discussion About the Pre-Health Program

Ø         Peer Mentoring on How to Succeed in Science Coursework

Ø         Review Sessions to Prepare for Exams, Midterms, and Finals

Ø  Time Management Seminars

Ø  Trips to Museums

Ø  Academic Registration Guidance

Ø  Special Topic Seminars from Facultyon Contemporary Science Issues

And it’s not only textbooks and formulas—social, spiritual and recreational programming brings this close-knit community together. The SILC occupies the co-ed 3rd floor of Alumni Court South and the two wings of the floor share an air-conditioned study lounge equipped with smart technology like an LCD projector, white boards, and tables and lounge chairs for study.

SILC is offered in two specialized communities for freshman and upperclassmen.
