Science Integrated Learning Community II


The Upperclass Science Integrated Learning Community (SILC2) is a partnership between the Dean's Office of Fordham College at Rose Hill and the Office of Residential Life that focuses on providing science-focused programming, such as:
  • Discussion About the Pre-Health Program
  • Peer Mentoring on How to Succeed in Science Coursework
  • Review Sessions to Prepare for Exams, Midterms, and Finals
  • Time Management Seminars 
  • Trips to Museums
  • Academic Registration Guidance
  • Special Topic Seminars from Faculty on Contemporary Science Issues
SILC2 is located on the 4th floor of O’Hare Hall Residential College and is available to both Sophomores and Juniors.

Residents of SILC2 must be enrolled in major-level science courses during both the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters.

Please be sure to prepare the following essays to include in your application:

1) Discuss your thoughts about the community responsibilities of the residents of an integrated learning community, and why you see that as beneficial.
Please be sure to include what you hope to gain from living on the SILC2 floor, and how you intend to contribute as a member of this community.

2) Describe how your experiences to date (academic or non-academic) make you a unique candidate for this community.

Timeline:

Due to a high volume of requests, the SILC2 application deadline has been extended to 5pm on Monday, February 17th, 2014.

Applicants will be notified of their ILC status on Friday, February 21st, 2014.
Applicants must accept or decline their ILC placement by Tuesday, February 25
th, 2014.
ILC Room selection will take place the first week in March, 2014.
