The McGinley Center, adjacent to the Lombardi Center, was built in 1959, the"living room," where students socialize, attend events, shop at the bookstore, workout at a fully equipped fitness center, and dine at the Marketplace and Dagger John's.
Named in honor of Laurence J. McGinley, S.J., the 28th president of Fordham University from 1949 to 1963, the student center is also home to the Office of Career Services, the University Bookstore, Campus Ministry, and the Office of Student Leadership and Community Development.
This new Fordham Athletic facility, opening in October of 2012, and formally known on campus as the “Ramskellar”, is located in the basement of the McGinley Center. It contains 1,800 square feet of cardio space (Stairmasters, elliptical machines, stationary bikes) with a stretching/cool down area and storage cubbies. Along the perimeter are Precore strength machines with a separate heavier weight room towards the back. The facility also houses two group exercise studios: 1,100 sq/ft main studio and a spin studio for weekly group exercise classes.
