Hatha Yoga in the Anusara Style
We welcome newcomers to yoga as well as those with more experience - all abilities encouraged!
Yoga classes at Fordham are taught in the Anusara style, which emphasizes correct alignment and safety while cultivating a deep connection to your heart. Our class begins with a flow to get moving, and builds strength, balance, and confidence with standing poses, backbends, and even hand balances! All classes are open level.
Informed by the discoveries from their own yoga practice and training, our instructors encourage each student to safely cultivate the fullest expression of their own spirit through awareness of the body's structural alignment and the flowing movement of the breath. By allowing the breath to guide us through the practice, students of all abilities (including beginners!) may find the playful balance between effort and ease. Anusara style classes combine instruction of safe, proper alignment, increasing strength, enhancing flexibility, building to hand balances and inversions in a fun, non-competitive environment that seeks to challenge and encourage each and every student.
Mats, blankets, and blocks are provided. |

| Yoga tips: Please try to arrive to class ten minutes early, take off your shoes at the door and turn off your cell phone. If the class has started, come in quietly and we'll find you a spot. |
