Student Governments

United Student Government
The 2009-2010 United Student Government at Fordham University (USG) is made up of 29 Student Senators, elected by the students of the various schools and colleges of Fordham University, and two Student representatives, which are appointed at-large by the Executive Committees of both the Residence Halls Association and the Commuter Student Association. These at-large Senators provide continuity and represent the other two branches of Fordham University Student Government.

Commuting Students Association
The Commuting Students Association (CSA) is the student government devoted to the needs and concerns of the commuter student population at Fordham.

Residence Halls Association
The Residence Hall Association (RHA) serves the student government for the residence halls. It consists of elected representatives from the 10 halls at the Rose Hill campus. In addition to being the “voice of the halls,” the role of RHA is to plan activities for the individual halls as well as campus-wide events.


Programming Clubs

Campus Activities Board
As the largest programming board on campus, Campus Activities Board (CAB) specializes in large and small-scale social and cultural activities, both on and off campus. Welcome Week, Family Weekend, and Spring Weekend are CAB’s largest annual events, but they also bring many speakers, concerts, and comedians to Fordham throughout the year. Recent acts have included Third Eye Blind, The Roots, Yellowcard, Guster, Dave Coulier, the stars of Reno 911 and more.

American Age Lecture Series
A series of lectures, forums, and speakers of educational and social interest.
Cinevents
Offers free movie screenings of today’s most popular movies every Tuesday and Thursday night.
Comedy Committee
Books live performances of famous and up-and-coming comedians at Fordham.
Concert Committee
Plans the Welcome Week and Spring Weekend concerts featuring artists like Girl Talk and Guster.
Cultural Affairs Committee
Researches the best Broadway shows and offers discounted tickets to students.

Rodrigues Coffee House
Located in and operated out of the Alumni House, is a hub for social awareness and a venue to promote and foster Fordham’s artistic community.
Weekend Activities Committee
Plans social, cultural and education activities for free for Fordham students such as Bingo, Karaoke and Mind-Readers.
Special Events Committee
Plans university-wide programs such as Family and Sibling Weekends.

Peer Educators
The Fordham University Peer Educators is an official student organization at Rose Hill advised and trained by the staff of the Alcohol and Other Drug Education Program. Inspired by the Ignatian tradition of the Magis, Peer Educators serve as active change agents and leaders in service striving to continuously improve the quality of student life at Fordham University.  Peer Educators plan events and develop campaigns to increase positive behaviors on and off campus and decrease the harmful effects associated with the misuse and abuse of alcohol and other drugs.

Academic Clubs

Academia Hispania
Academia Hispania furthers the knowledge and appreciation of the Hispanic culture, education, and politics among members of the Fordham community. It does this through social events that will engage the audience on topics concerning the Hispanic community. Academia also invites intellectuals on issues that concern the advancement of the Hispanic community in America and the rest of the world.

Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA)
We are a pre-professional organization in the accounting and finance worlds. We offer exciting opportunities, consisting of professional presentations and other networking interactions. Our program is tailored for the Latino Community, but our programs are open to all ethnicities. ALPFA is a national organization, and has over 8,300 members in 34 cities.

Beta Alpha Psi

Beta Alpha Psi is the honorary organization devoted to students and professionals within the Financial Information Industry.  The primary objective of Beta Alpha Psi is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field. This includes promoting the study and practice of accounting, finance, and information systems; providing opportunities for self-development, service, and association among members and practicing professionals; and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility. Fordham University’s Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi is named the “Alpha Omega” Chapter, and it is part of the Atlantic Coast Region.  It has received “Superior Chapter” status for the last 10 years.

Economics Society
The purpose of the Economics Society is to unite those interested in the area of economics and other related fields.

Finance Society
Fordham Finance Society seeks to: Enhance your resume writing ability; Develop your own set of interviewing tactics; and, Hone your networking skills. Fordham Finance Society plans to accomplish this by organizing informational events, training workshops, and alumni meet-and-greets. By joining the finance society (500+ members and counting), you will be able to connect with and utilize the resources of peers, faculty, alumni, and business professionals to achieve your professional aspirations. The goal of FFS is to help students prepare for internships and jobs in finance. As a result, we will be working closely with Ms. Barbara Taylor, bringing you Interview-Prep and Resume Workshops.

Gamma Kappa Alpha
Gamma Kappa Alpha is Fordham’s chapter of the National Italian Honor Society. We host social and academic events to foster an environment of Italian culture. Although it is an honor society for Italian majors/minors, we always welcome the entire Fordham community to attend our events and join us as we expand our knowledge.

GLOBE
The purpose of the G.L.O.B.E. Club is to explore and learn how countries other than the United States conduct business. G.L.O.B.E Club strives to deepen member’s appreciation of international business by looking at the myriad aspects of various cultures including the social, political, religious, and entrepreneurial. We wish to foster an understanding of how each country plays a part in the global economy. Our club will be useful not only to those pursuing a career in international business, but to any Fordham student who wishes to seek an understanding of other people’s business conducts around the world.

Laennec Society
The Laennec Society is a student organization that brings together students interested in health professional fields to promote academic excellence, provide essential information about health professions fields, and encourage future health professionals to engage in meaningful community service. The Laennec Society sponsors lectures by alumni in the health professions and by admissions representatives from professional schools. In one of the biggest events of the year, The Laennec Society sponsors Fordham University’s Relay for Life, which raises money for the Bronx division of the American Cancer Society. 

Math Club
The math club allows students to become better acquainted with math. It provides its members to an opportunity to learn more about the mathematics field by sponsoring talks by professors, in their area of expertise.  It also allows the opportunities for its members to learn about careers in math with informational session done by people in that particular mathematical field.  The math club, finally, allows mathematics majors, minors, and people who are interested in math to come together to share their ideas and experiences that they have had in the field of mathematics.


Phi Alpha Theta
The Chi Phi chapter of the international honor society in history, Phi Alpha Theta, has the purpose of furthering the study of history within the Fordham Community.

Philosophy Society
The Philosophy Society is designed to use Philosophy outside of the classroom in discussion, lecture, and other scholarly opportunities and to encourage understanding of the importance of philosophy as it relates to the tradition of Jesuit education.

Political Science Student Union

This organization provides the opportunity for those interested in political science to stimulate scholarship and interested to advance their knowledge of government.

Psi Chi
Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, was established on September 9, 1929 to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology.  Fordham's first Psi Chi Chapter, Lincoln Center Chapter #576, was established on December 9, 1983 by Dr. Harold Takooshian.
Fordham's Psi Chi organization accepts students who are enrolled in Fordham's graduate, undergraduate, and evening psychology programs; as well as faculty members. Psi Chi provides students with an opportunity to get to know psychology students and professors outside of the classroom setting at both scholarly and fun activities. Activities are often co-sponsored with Fordham's Psychology Clubs. Psi Chi provides students the opportunity to meet and collaborate with other psychology students on a national and international basis, opening the door to friendships as well as research collaboration.

A chapter of the national honor society in psychology, Psi Chi encourages, stimulates, and maintains excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and strives to advance the science of psychology.

Society of Computer Science
This group serves the Rose Hill Fordham students who are interested in learning more about computer science.

Society of Visual Arts (SOVA)
The Society of Visual Arts (SOVA) is the only Fordham University Arts club serving the Rose Hill Campus. SOVA enhances awareness of the arts on-and-off campus through engaging activities and sharing abundant information to encourage our members to get involved and take advantage of the rich world of arts and culture here in New York City.

Cultural Clubs

Armenian Club
Armenian Society at Fordham University strives to raise awareness in Fordham community of Armenian-Americans as well as Armenia-related matters in general. Our main goal is to share the rich cultural heritage of Armenian people by providing an insight into details of Armenian culture, history and traditions. We have organized and held educational as well as cultural events at Fordham in partnership with other student organizations within Fordham as well as outside affiliates.

Asian Cultural Exchange (ACE)
The Asian Culture Exchange has been committed to spreading the awareness of Asian culture and heritage at Fordham University. ACE strives to provide opportunities for others to learn about the social, cultural, historical, and intellectual pursuits of the Asian community. Through our efforts, we work towards an improved understanding of the wide variety of political, social, academic, cultural, and artistic interests of the various Asian cultures. Some of our efforts in spreading the awareness include our annual showcase of Asian acts performed by nationally recognized performers in our events Dynasty and EPIC.

ASILI

Asili is Swahili for root or foundation. To “take the root of” something is to find its most basic and simplest component. To be the root of something is to be the foundation from which all can be built upon. To “know one’s roots” is to have a deep understanding of one’s beginning and also to know where one is going. To “be the root” is to be significant source of a movement or an institution that is larger than oneself.
Asili assumes responsibilities for the academic and cultural representation of the minority students at Fordham University. Asili provides an intellectual, cultural, and social atmosphere for its members. It serves an advocatory function with regard to complaints of racial discrimination and racist attacks (verbal or physical) toward minority students. Asili seeks to advance the social, intellectual, and cultural development of its members as well as the greater Fordham community. It is our long range goal to establish a supportive network between students of all ethnic backgrounds at Fordham University.

El Grito de Lares
El Grito de Lares promotes cultural and social awareness of Latino heritage through programming. In order to achieve this goal, we educate others and ourselves about our intricate and diverse heritage by bringing in uplifting speakers and performers that showcase our culture. Moreover, through our service and support, we help assist youth from under privileged backgrounds overcome institutional barriers. We also have a strong belief in insuring that all members of the Fordham community feel inclusive in the organization. All this is emphasized through our motto, “Unidad es la llave” (“Unity is the key”).

FUSE is a diverse club promoting South Asian culture and heritage to the Fordham community. Their goal is to raise awareness and encourage diversity among Fordham students.

Gaelic Society
The Archbishop John Hughes Gaelic Society at Fordham University aims to promote an awareness, understanding, and appreciation of Irish culture by means of events that explore and celebrate the social, cultural, political, and athletic aspects of the Irish heritage.  Gaelic Society sponsors movie nights, lectures & discussions, Gaelic sport tutorials, and field trips to various events around NYC.

Hellenic Society
The Hellenic Society is a club representative of the Greek culture.  The club has many members, and several new students join every year.  Every week, the e-board organizes general meetings in order to discuss and plan upcoming events.  The Hellenic Society is open to anyone who is interested in joining.  Based on prior years, the club has been very successful in conveying and displaying the meaning of the Greek culture to the Fordham community.

Le Cercle Francais
Le Cercle Français’ mission is to promote the Francophone culture to the Fordham community. We encourage students to speak French and socialize with other students who share this similar interest. Members of Le Cercle Français experience French culture by enjoying the food, watching movies, keeping up with current events, and sharing in the celebrations. Le Cercle Français allows students on the Fordham campus to share in the rich French culture.

MECA (Middle Eastern Cultural Association)
MECA exists to bring students together around the unique culture of the Middle East as well as its rich political, social, and ethnic makeup.

Muslim Students Association (MSA)

The purpose of the Muslim Students Association (MSA) is to convey and teach the true meaning of al-Islam. The MSA will also strive to contribute to the overall mission of Fordham University and the advancement of social, moral, cultural, intellectual, and spiritual development of its individual members and the University community.
The Muslim Student Association (MSA) is a student run club, supported by Campus Ministry, which serves the needs of students of the Islamic faith.  At Rose Hill there is a dedicated Muslim Prayer Room (Faber Hall, Room 1) and at Lincoln Center there is a dedicated prayer space located in the Rupert Mayer, SJ Chapel (221 LL) A copy of the Qur'an, prayer rugs and shawls are available through Campus Ministry.

FUPAC (Fordham University Philippine-American Club)
The purpose of FUPAC (Philippine-American Club) is to promote diversity throughout Fordham University with its motto: kultura, serbisyo, at pakikisama (culture, service, and camaraderie) by sponsoring Filipino-American cultural, outreach, and social activities.

Polish Cultural Exchange

The Polish Cultural Exchange is an organization that was established in 2005 by several Polish students. These students found a need for an organization that would not only educate people about the Polish culture, but also celebrate their Polish heritage. Moreover, they wanted to make the campus aware that Fordham is home to a fairly large Polish community. Ever since 2005 the club has worked hard to become known and involved on campus. We educate the campus about Polish culture and history, plan educational and fun cultural trips and events, host discussions about current issues facing Poles and showcase our Polish pride.

Pope Dante Italian Society
The Pope Dante Italian Society is an organization in which Italian and non-Italian students can appreciate Italian heritage and culture, including food, music, opera, and festivals without even knowing the language. The Pope Dante Italian Society host lectures where students can learn about Italian history and literature. It is a good way to learn about a culture that gave us the checkbook, mozzarella, gelato, and the many types of pasta. It is a fun club, which requires members attend two meetings and one main event

Pride Alliance
PRIDE Alliance stands for People Recognizing Identities and Differences for Equality. We’re a student organization devoted to supporting members of the Fordham community as they integrate their sexual orientation and gender identity into their personhood. Our club is comprised of LGBTQ members and straight allies. We try to create an open social space where all students feel free to be themselves, while at the same time organizing around and reflecting on LGBTQ activism. We collectively plan social events, guest speakers, campus-wide diversity initiatives, and much more. Everything said in our meetings is confidential. We never push members to speak up. We strive to foster an open and welcoming atmosphere where members can say as much or as little as they’d like.

Ukrainian Society
The Ukrainian Society aims to promote Ukrainian culture on campus. We organize events that will show Ukrainian history, language, music, and art. We connect Ukrainian students together and keep them aware of what is currently going on in Ukraine. We also organize trips to Ukrainian places in New York City. We aspire to connect the Fordham students interested in Ukraine with the Ukrainian community in NYC and Ukraine.


Performing Clubs

Debate Society
First founded in 1852, the Fordham Debate Society is the oldest club on campus, and is one of the first members of the American Parliamentary
Debate League. Open to all interested students, the team works to put into practice “eloquentia perfecta” through debates on subjects as varied as international affairs, pop culture, and philosophy. Each year we travel throughout the east coast as well as to Oxford, Canada, and the Worlds tournament, where we compete in parliamentary debate with other highly ranked schools and teams.

Expressions Dance Alliance
Expressions Dance Alliance aspires to provide an outlet for dancers to bring together their eclectic backgrounds and techniques and produce a completely original show each semester. Twenty-one dancers currently make up the completely student run organization. Dancers are selected at the beginning of each semester based on their technical proficiency and ability to adapt to new and different choreography. Company members typically make a six to 12 hour weekly commitment. In addition, dancers participate in community service projects, fundraising, and club and campus events. Expressions also holds several dance classes each week in Keating B23, which are open to the Fordham community.

Fordham University Band and Orchestra
The Fordham University Band and Orchestra provide Fordham students with the opportunity to develop their musical talents.  These groups rehearse on Monday and Thursday nights (5:30 PM for Orchestra and 7:00 PM for Band) and perform a concert at the end of each semester.  The Fordham University Band also includes the Pep Band, which is composed of Band members who perform at football and basketball games, as well as certain special events during the academic year.  Scholarships are available for members of the Band and Orchestra.

Fordham University Concert Choir
The sixty voice University Choir is a select mixed ensemble comprised of students from the University’s Rose Hill (Concert Choir) and Lincoln Center (Chamber Singers) campuses. The Choir's repertoire of sacred and secular music is representative of the finest choral tradition. The Choir keeps a full performance schedule that includes five campus concerts and an annual tour. The Choir often performs at various venues in the New York metropolitan area, including Carnegie Hall, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Highlights of each choir season include the Family Weekend Mass, the Festival of Lessons and Carols each December, and the Spring Concert, which features a major choral work with orchestra. Past performances include Handel's Messiah, Bach's Magnificat, and Mozart's Requiem. The Choir has performed in many major U.S. cities, such as Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. Internationally, the choir has performed in Italy, Spain, and Canada. Membership is by audition. Students receive ensemble credit.

F.E.T. (Fordham Experimental Theatre)

F.E.T. stages various workshops and plays throughout the year and gives students an opportunity to gain production skills.

Fordham Flava
As the only urban dance company on campus, Fordham Flava brings together a diverse group of students who strive to communicate their love for hip hop, salsa, and reggae dance to a range of audiences. The company performs at a variety of venues, including dance conventions, basketball games, fashion shows, and their own annual
hip hop battle.

Fordham University Glee Club
The Glee Club is a student vocal ensemble dedicated to the preservation and performances of both traditional and non-traditional vocal ensemble music. Individual performing groups include The B-Sides, The Ramblers, and The Satin Dolls.

The Ramblers
The Fordham University Ramblers is Fordham’s only all-male A’Cappella group. Founded in 1983, the Fordham Ramblers is Fordham’s oldest active club on campus. A vocal ensemble dedicated to the preservation and performance of both traditional and non-traditional vocal ensemble music, the Ramblers host several concerts throughout each Semester, and also tour to other universities and venues around the country.

The Satin Dolls
The Satin Dolls is Fordham’s only all-female a cappella group. This vocally and musically gifted group is devoted to the performance of
popular and favorite music in addition to the preservation of the talent and tradition of vocal ensemble music. The Satin Dolls hold performances on campus throughout the school year, and they partake in national competitions and travel to and perform at other universities.

The B-Sides
The b-Sides are Fordham’s only co-ed a cappella group.  They are the most recent a cappellagroup founded on Fordham’s campus and arrange and perform a diverse array of popular and contemporary music.  They perform a large concert at the end of each semester, as well as various other events throughout the year.

Fordham Jazz Collective
The Fordham Jazz Collective is not only performing group, but also an organization for lovers of music, specifically (but not limited to) jazz. The Collective travels to the city for concerts, attracts world-renowned and upcoming musicians to campus as a part of the “Jazz It Up!” concert series, holds clinics for it’s members with various clinicians/composers, and holds concerts featuring it’s own members. Membership is offered to all members of the Fordham University community wishing to participate. The Club has rights to a music practice room in the basement of Keating Hall, affording members the opportunity to rehearse/jam frequently. Mimes and Mummers
The Mimes & Mummers at Fordham University, housed in Collins Auditorium, hire professional directors and choreographers to assist with their theatrical productions. The Mimes produce two top-notch shows per semester, which could be a comedy, a drama, a musical, or a classic work. The Mimes welcome all undergraduate students who are non-theatre majors to audition for their productions.

Mock Trial
Established in 2001, Fordham University Mock Trial is a program that allows those students in the Fordham community who share an interest in law, acting, and public speaking to come together as a team. The Fordham University Mock Trial Team prepares members to compete as lawyers and witnesses in trial simulations throughout the year using the case pattern provided by the American Mock Trial Association. Team members grow personally as they develop public speaking, improvisational, and analytical skills, and the team on the whole grows in both size and strength each year due to the dedication and enthusiasm of its members.

Political Clubs

College Democrats
The College Democrats of Fordham University, are more than just a campus political club, we are part of a national student-driven action network. Our mission is to end political apathy among college-age voters, train college activists to work on local and national political campaigns, help train people to see how their personal strengths and skills can make a difference in the world, and, ultimately, to get Democrats elected from the grassroots level up. We respond to today's problems and political events at the local, state, national, and international levels. We look at the responses from the general public and student body and discuss our own possible solutions. We are dedicated to bringing the best political speakers and educational events to campus, conducting annual voter-registration drives, and initiating campus mobilizations to assist with Democratic campaigns.

College Republicans
The mission of the College Republicans is to promote the values of the Republican Party on and off campus while providing a venue for community amongst conservative Fordham students.  We believe in the merits of limited government, free markets, strong national defense, individual rights, equal opportunity, and traditional social values and we stand in defense of them. We aim to fight apathy on campus by raising awareness of current events while spreading Republican ideals through educational campaigns, debates, and events.  We attend national conferences and workshops, and support the publication of The Liberty Forum, Fordham's quarterly conservative magazine.  We work to promote the election of Republican officials nationwide. If you consider yourself Republican, conservative, libertarian, generally right-leaning, or even just curious, we encourage you to check out a meeting and see what we're all about.

Respect for Life
Fordham Respect for Life is committed to protecting the dignity of all human life from conception to natural death. The human person is endangered at all stages by various psychological, political and socio-economic ethical ideas. We work in the sphere of public opinion as well as on the ground, in our community, to fight violations of the dignity of human life. Fordham Respect for Life is open to individuals of all faiths, beliefs and backgrounds. We welcome the involvement of all who are devoted to preserving the dignity of life.

Publications

Ampersand
The Ampersand is the literary club of Fordham College Rose Hill. It aims to support the creative arts—especially writing—at Fordham. We
hold weekly meetings where writers can get feedback on their writing as well as find inspiration in our writing prompts. We also hold events like
poetry readings and open mics to provide an outlet for all kinds of creative arts. The Ampersand also publishes FCRH’s literary magazine, The Ampersand, twice a year.

The Maroon Yearbook
The Maroon, Rose Hill’s Undergraduate Yearbook, is responsible for documenting the events of the year on campus. Our photographers and writers attend all major events and our layout staff prepares spreads with the photos taken and articles written. We cover everything from Welcome Week to Graduation. Each year, a staff of about fifteen students creates a 400+ page book.

the paper
the paper is Fordham University's student journal of news, analysis, comment, and review. Our aim is to give the Fordham community fresh insights on old issues, new thoughts on new issues, and information that other campus publications may not be able to report. We do not claim to be a newspaper of record – facts, figures, and dates. Instead, we focus on the Fordham student perspective, on thoughtful analysis, and on the comprehension of the full scope of events, rather than staggered and straight news coverage. In short, our emphasis is on the obvious and active role of the student writer in his or her work. We also aim to provide Fordham students a lessfettered venue for expression, something they may not be able to find at other student publications.

The Ram
The Ram is the official journal of record serving the Fordham University campus and community since 1918.  The Ram’s mission is to provide a forum for the free and open exchange of ideas and to act as a student advocate.  The newspaper is produced weekly 12 times each semester by an editorial staff of undergraduate students. The Ram circulates on the Rose Hill, Lincoln Center, Westchester and London campuses and is sent to alumni through a subscription service.

Service Clubs

Big Brothers/Big Sisters
Fordham Big Brother Big Sisters is a club that works with inner city/community organizations that have care centers. These organizations bring their kids to Fordham on specific dates for a myriad of events, including Reading days, and seasonal holiday parties. Circle K
Circle K is an international collegiate service organization sponsored by Kiwanis International designed to promote leadership and the spirit of
service on campus and in the surrounding community. With over 340 consecutive years on campus, Circle K works side-by-side with Fordham Kiwanis. Fordham Kiwanis is comprised of members of the Fordham staff who are also involved in community service. The motto of Circle K is "We Build".

Fashion for Philanthropy
Fashion for Philanthropy seeks to use the medium of self-expression, a fundamental element of fashion, to uphold and stress the Jesuit ideals of
social responsibility and creative individuality.  Fashion for Philanthropy hopes to expose students to current issues and trends within the fashion industry. The Jesuit philosophy of men and women for others has inspired the club to donate its proceeds to philanthropic organizations such as the Make-A-Wish foundation.  Our biggest event is a fashion show held every spring showcasing the designs of both Fordham and New York city designers.  In past years we have raised over $5,000, which is enough to grant a wish to at least one child and their family.

FUEMS
The purpose of FUEMS is to provide basic life support emergency medical care – based on the Emergency Medical Technician-Basic level as specified by the State Department of Health and associated laws of the State of New York – to the portion of the Fordham University community associated with the Rose Hill campus. This is to be done in the most efficient manner possible with the resources available. The goal of the organization is to provide its patients with, and continually strive to enhance, the highest standard of care possible through the use of available emergency medical technologies. The organization should serve as a catalyst for the growth and development  of community awareness, involvement, voluntarism, and leadership.

Global Outreach
Global Outreach is a program under the auspices of the Office of Mission and Ministry at Fordham University. Global Outreach is a cultural immersion and service program where Fordham students learn about various issues of social, economic, political and environmental injustice, while living a simple lifestyle that fosters communal and spiritual growth. We send teams of students consisting of approximately ten students, one student leader, and one chaperone to live, work, and learn with partnering organizations in approximately thirty locations throughout the United States and countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe. Global Outreach teams travel to collaborate with our partnering organizations during winter, spring, and summer break. The projects vary in both length and scope. Regardless of its focus, each project shares the ultimate goal of creating solidarity, learning about issues of poverty and injustice, and connecting the local with the global.

PACNY (Parks Action for the City of New York)

The mission of this organization is to work in conjunction with the Department of Parks and Recreation and Urban Renewal to help the surrounding New York City community.

Students for Fair Trade
Students for Fair Trade is responsible for running all aspects of a small business that sells fair trade jewelry, gifts, and food to the Fordham and New York City communities. All of the business’s products are supplied directly by a group of impoverished artisans in the Kenyan countryside who rely on Western-market access to be paid a fair and livable wage for their work. Thus, Students for Fair Trade allows club members to combine entrepreneurship with social justice according to the Jesuit philosophy of Fordham University. Club members develop their entrepreneurial, accounting, marketing, and sales skills, as well as a passion for being men and women for others.

Student Global AIDS Campaign
Student Global AIDS Campaign is a student group dedicated to fundraising for HIV/AIDS care and advocacy organizations, raising awareness on campus about the epidemic’s effects on our community and our world, and engaging in service opportunities around New York City.  We have 20-30 very active members who attend weekly meetings and help to generate interest in our events.   Our mission is to educate, to advocate and to promote awareness.    


Special Interest Clubs

1000lb. Club
The 1000lb Club is collection of driven students looking to improve their physical capabilities by perusing a challenging regimen of exercises that facilitates advances in strength, conditioning, and aesthetic appearance.  We not only seek to improve ourselves, but to encourage and teach others about the proper techniques which can be used to expand one’s physical limits.  It is also our goal to provide particular attention to the overall improvement of Fordham’s gym and to project a wave of respect for the existing equipment which will hopefully be embraced by others that use the facility as well.

Contemporary Science Fiction
Contemporary Science Fiction (CSF) meets weekly to promote appreciation of and introduce its members to various works of science fiction, animation, anime, video gaming, and social gaming. In addition to weekly meetings we also host various workshops, trips to movies and museums, game tournaments, and guest speakers.

Hip Hop Coalition
Our club is a representation of the art of hip-hop, that was born here in the Bronx. We educate people on the art form, as far as where it began and how it affects the world. We give other students a chance experience this culture first hand. The key to our club is the creativity students get to engage in at our event.

Ignatian Society
The Ignatian Society is an student run organization that seeks to promote Ignatian Spirituality, Jesuit Education, Faith doing Service and Ignatian Leadership. Annually we host Ignatian Heritage Week, a university-wide celebration of Fordham’s Jesuit tradition. Additionally we sponsor the Jesuit Companions program which allow students to visit the retired Jesuit community at Murray-Weigel Hall. Above all else we seek to encourage the living out of our Jesuit tradition that encourages us to “Find God in All Things.”


Orthodox Christian Fellowship
Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) is a way for Orthodox Christians at Fordham University to meet each other while enjoying faith, fellowship, and fun. We get together once a month to celebrate Divine Liturgy on campus with Fordham’s Orthodox chaplain, Father Elias Villis.  Following Liturgy, we have pizza and discuss our faith. In addition to these monthly meetings, OCF members perform community service and take various trips throughout the year.

Perishing Rifles
The mission of Company D-8 is to achieve a high proficiency in tactics, close order drill,military bearing and courtesy; to instill discipline and a high sense of friendship among the members of the Company; and to develop to the highest degree the necessary characteristics that contribute to the making of better officers and citizens.

Progressive Students for Justice (PSJ)
Progressive Students for Justice is a democratic student group dedicated to empowering all people through education and action for social justice issues. Their purpose is to: Advocate and act on issues of Peace and Social Justice at Fordham University and in the world. Hold educational events such as lectures, teach-ins, and speakers. Distribute information such as leaflets, flyers, and newsletters. Organize and participate in nonviolent demonstrations and solidarity actions with other groups on and off campus, with consideration and respect for other viewpoints. Act as a catalyst of empowerment to encourage action, advocacy, and civic participation among students through their involvement concerning social injustices. PSJ operates as a general organization and also through four main subcommittees. They are currently: Labor Solidarity Committee, Students for Environmental Protection & Awareness, Anti-War Coalition,and Women’s Empowerment Committee

Ram Real Estate informs members about the Real Estate and Hotel Industries, career opportunities in this field and offers students a chance to participate in forums and on site visits.

Ski and Snowboard Club
The Ski and Snowboard Club provides interested students with the opportunity to ski and/or snowboard. The club takes day trips to various mountains throughout the Northeast. Students have the opportunity to learn about skiing and/or snowboarding.

Sixth Man Club

The Sixth Man Club is an instrument for students to show support for the Fordham University Basketball Teams. The goal is to raise interest and school spirit in Fordham Athletics. Also, we want students to have an opportunity to have an enjoyable and memorable social experience in correlation with supporting the basketball program at Fordham.
