Commuters in the Café

Enjoy a complimentary breakfast in the Ultimate Dining Marketplace, our main cafeteria. Breakfasts are offered on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the cafeteria throughout the fall and spring semesters. “Commuters in the Café” gives you the opportunity to dine with commuters and residents while enjoying a free breakfast.  You must pick up your breakfast ticket in the Student Lounge in the basement of McGinley during those hours.

Commuter-Specific Scholarships Available

There are financial rewards for commuting! Fordham University offers the Metro Grant to undergraduate commuting students, which significantly discounts tuition. To be eligible for the Metro Grant, you must be an incoming freshman or a transfer student commuting from your permanent residence in New York City or its surrounding areas, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and enrolled full-time. Every commuting student who meets the eligibility requirements will receive an award. All students receive $6,000 per academic year, or $3,000 per semester. Students eligible for a Metro Grant and a scholarship will receive the higher of the two awards. The Metro Grant is renewable for up to eight academic year semesters (fall and spring) for eligible students who continue to commute from their permanent residence and maintain satisfactory progress towards their degree. IT Customer Care Organization

The Fordham IT Customer Care Organization is comprised of the IT Help Desk and the IT Customer Care Centers located at the Rose Hill and Lincoln Center campuses. The Fordham IT Customer Care Organization is available for all Fordham University students, staff and faculty. Any questions or problems with your computer’s operating system, initial computer setup, software applications, account claiming via my.fordham.edu, e-mail access, wireless and internet or network connection may be directed to the IT Help Desk by phone or e-mail.

Metrocards

You can purchase a round-trip metrocard for $4.50 in the Office of Student Leadership and Community Development, McGinley 204.

Movie Tickets

You can purchase discount movie tickets to AMC or Regal Cinemas for $6.50.  Limitations do apply.  Please visit the Office of Student Leadership and Community Development, McGinley 204 for more details.

Office of Residential Life at Rose Hill

Commuter students accepted to Fordham University without housing who would like to live on campus should contact the Office of Residential Life to sign up for the housing wait list at (718) 817-3080 or reslifeRH@fordham.edu. Fall semester housing is rarely available. However, a limited number of transfer students may be offered housing in late August. Most waitlist students are offered housing for the spring semester.

Ramcell

Ramcell is the Fordham University cellular service. Powered by Sprint, this service is designed to meet the needs of today’s students by providing low cost cellular service. Rent a Locker!

The Office of Student Leadership and Community Development rents lockers to commuter students. Lockers become available for rent to all students on Wednesday, August 31, the day classes begin, in McGinley Center, Room 204. The rental fee is $25 for the full academic year or $15 per semester. Lockers are located in the lower level of the McGinley Center. These lockers are available on a first come, first served basis.
