Meet The Staff

Meet the Orientation Team:

Jennifer M. Mussi, Assistant Dean for Student Leadership and Community Development
Jennifer joined the Division of Student Affairs at Fordham University in June 2000. She served as Director of Student Activities and New Student Orientation for the Lincoln Center Campus until November 2005 and then moved to the Rose Hill Campus to assume the position of Assistant Dean for Student Leadership and Community Development.  Jennifer graduated from Fordham College Rose Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Media Studies and the New York University Graduate School of Education with a Master of Arts in Student Personnel Administration.  Jennifer completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Church and Non-Public School Leadership at the Fordham University Graduate School of Education and her dissertation is titled, “Does Mission Matter?  An Exploration of the Relationship Between Jesuit Mission and the New Student Affairs Professional.” Jennifer is a member of the Alpha Sigma Nu National Jesuit Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi, JASPA, NASPA, ACPA, NODA and NACA.  Jennifer has published numerous articles for the NACA  Programming Magazine and presents student and staff development workshops on a variety of topics including leadership, strategic planning, organizational change, student development theory and foundations of Jesuit and Catholic education.  She is an adjunct faculty member in the Graduate School of Education and a member of the Xavier High School Board of Trustees.  Jennifer is a native of New York City and a New York Yankees and New York Giants fan.

Kathryn Carey 

Kathryn Carey, a sophomore English Major from Bergen County, New Jersey, is extremely excited to be an Orientation Coordinator this year! In addition to Orientation, Kathryn is involved in Peer Educators, Ski & Snowboard Club, the Rose Hill Society and is the Executive Vice President of Finance on USG. Kathryn really hopes to make this year's Orientation better than ever by giving the freshmen the tools to make the most out of their time at Fordham.

Brittney Cavaliere

Brittney Cavaliere, a member of the class of 2010, is an Urban Studies major and an American Catholic Studies concentrator. Originally from East Hartford, CT, she is active on campus in Global Outreach and Freshman Year Formation. She also spends much of her time volunteering as a tutor at the Rosedale Center in the South Bronx. She loves making people smile and spreading her love for life. She is greatly enthused to be an Orientation Coordinator and to welcome the class of 2012!

Shannon Hirrel

Shannon Hirrel is a sophomore at Fordham Rose-Hill and is a Religious Studies major.   She is involved in the University Choir, Christian Life Community, Global Outreach, and volunteer projects.  Shannon is happy with her decision to come to Fordham and is thankful for the many opportunities with which Fordham has provided her.  She really enjoyed her experience as an Orientation Leader and is excited to now have a more hands on approach to New Student Orientation as an Orientation Coordinator.

Jacqueline Smith 

Jacquie is an English major and history minor in the Fordham College Class of 2009. Along with NSO, she volunteers as a FASA and a First Year Formation student assistant, is a member of the Student Culinary Council and a copy editor for The Ram.  In her free time, she loves to read, watch movies, and play on the Fordham intramural soccer team Manifest Destiny.  Originally from Newington, Connecticut, Jacquie is a huge UConn men’s basketball fan! When she isn’t rooting for UConn, she’s getting everyone at Fordham as pumped up as she is about the New Student Orientation for the Class of 2012.
