About Us

Twenty-five dancers currently make up the completely student run organization. Dancers are selected at the beginning of each semester by audition only. Although Expressions performs many styles of dance, dancers do not need to have extensive training in more than one style to audition. Dancers are selected based on their technical proficiency and ability to adapt to new and different choreography. Company members typically make a six to 11 hour weekly commitment. Dancers are required to attend weekly rehearsals and company class. Supplementary classes are strongly encouraged. Company members also participate in fundraising, club and campus events.

Expressions Dance Alliance was established in 2001 by Angela Paparone, Gabelli '04, to fill the void of a dance ensemble at Fordham University 's Rose Hill Campus. The company maintains its original mission by providing dancers the opportunity to bring together their eclectic backgrounds in styles and techniques to produce and perform completely original choreography.

Each semester EDA presents a dynamic, diverse, and original program that is both thought provoking and entertaining. Members are responsible for every aspect of the production, including: choreography, costuming, light designs, budgeting, and publicity. EDA also performs at other functions throughout the year including charity events, Fordham Week, and New Student Orientation.

EDA offers professional and student instruction in a variety of styles to undergraduates in our own dance studio located in Keating B23.

Company members have the opportunity to choreograph original works for the semiannual showcase. Choreographers are chosen at the beginning of each semester by audition and are selected based on their ingenuity and artistic integrity.
