Each year, Fordham University Mock Trial hosts a competition for High School Mock Trial teams to compete against one another in an invitational-type setting before competing in the New York State Bar Association Competition in February and March. The Fordham University Mock Trial Maroon Classic enables high school students to gain experience in competition and advice from Fordham Mock Trial Team members who run the tournament and frequently judge the rounds. The tournament usually takes place on a Saturday in January and consists of two rounds, in which each team competes as the plaintiff/prosecution in one and the defense in the other.
Students compete using the year's NYSBA case. Please note that the New York State Bar Association is not involved in any way with the planning or hosting of this event; the event is hosted independently by Fordham Mock Trial. It may thus be possible for students from different schools to compete against one another again in the official NYSBA competition.
The tentative date for the Third Annual Maroon Classic is January 23, 2010. Invitations will be sent out by the end of October 2009. If your team is interested in attending this event, please have your team moderator contact Tournament Director Mary Young at email@example.com (Re: Maroon Classic).
