Alcohol and Drug Awareness

Rose Hill Rush

Substance Abuse Prevention Committee

The Substance Abuse Prevention Committee is in charge of the Peer Educator's educational initiatives. The committee is in charge of organizing volunteers for Core Programming and planning National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week. The committee ensures that the organization's programs fulfill the mission to change "student knowledge, attitudes, and behavioral intentions related to alcohol and other drug use." The committee is in charge of coordinating the Pre-Spring Weekend Floor Meeting presentations, where Peer Educators go to the floor meetings in freshman residence halls and go over some of the information given at Core Programming. They also demonstrate how many standard drinks are in one pitcher and how to measure exactly one shot in a red plastic cup. This is to make the freshmen aware of the amount of alcohol that they could be consuming when measuring out their own shots.

For more information on the committee, see the links on the left-hand side of the page.
