Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan
The
Financial Aid Guide for Graduate & Professional Students give details about aid, loans, and application instructions.
As a result of the Budget Control Act of 2011, all 2012-2013 Direct Loans for graduate students will be Unsubsidized. This means that interest will begin accruing at disbursement for all of your federal loans and will continue to accrue until the loan is repaid. The interest which accrues during in-school and grace periods may be paid by the student or will be capitalized at repayment. Students are not required to make payments on Direct Unsubsidized loans until after their in-school and grace periods are over.
The annual borrowing maximum for graduate students continues to be $20,500.
