What do I need to Do to be Eligible for Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans?
File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA takes 4-6 weeks to process. You will receive from the Federal Processor a Student Aid Report (SAR). After confirming the information on the SAR return the accurate and signed form to the Financial Aid Office.
A student must have at least half time status to be eligible to receive Federal Direct loans. Registration for 6 or more credits or your Department's certification of at least half-time status satisfies this requirement.
Complete an Entrance/Exit interview form at the Financial Aid Office.
New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
Due to changes made in the New York State budget passed in August 2010, graduate students are no longer eligible for the New York State TAP award.
