Continuing Students Financial Aid Guide

In order to qualify for financial assistance, it is critical that you submit all necessary forms on time. The deadline is April 7th for all continuing undergraduate students.

Eligibility for State, Federal and Institutional Aid is determined by continued Financial Need, Enrollment Status, and Maintenance of Academic Progress.

FEDERAL, STATE AND INSTITUTIONAL PROGRAMS

  • File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Renewal Form. Please take note the Renewal FAFSA facilitates re-applying for Federal Aid by having pre-provided information about the applicant. The FAFSA takes 4-6 weeks to process. You will receive back a Student Aid Report (SAR). After confirming the information on the SAR, and verifying that Fordham University is listed, return the signed accurate form to the Financial Aid Office. File for an SFA PIN
  • New York State Residents must file a New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) Application. New York State Higher Education Service Corporation (NYSHESC) determines TAP awards based on NYS net taxable income and dependency status. The student will receive an award certificate from NYSHESC. Fordham University must be listed on the award Certificate. If Fordham University is not listed on the Certificate, a TAP Change Form must be completed. A student must be enrolled Full Time to be considered for TAP, and have filed the FAFSA.

Continuing Undergraduate Students do not have to File the College Scholarship Service "PROFILE" form except for the following reasons:

  • The student has been specifically requested to file the PROFILE form by the Office of Stident Financial Services.
  • Students who have not received Fordham Grants or other Institutional Aid in the past and would like to be considered for the upcoming academic year must file the PROFILE.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Additional information may be requested of you in order to complete your application for Financial Aid or to clarify information. Please submit requested information as quickly as possible as not to impede the packaging process.

  • Be certain that all documents have been signed.
  • Fordham will send you a letter notifying you of your financial aid package. Read the letter and the enclosed guide carefully. Comply with all requirements.
  • Return signed white award letter to Fordham.

Electronic Processing- Fordham's electronic loan processing is the quickest and most efficient way to obtain a Stafford Loan. If your lender participates in NYS Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), loan proceeds are transferred electronically directly to the University to be applied to your student account. You will receive an application pre-certified by Fordham directly from your guarantor. Follow the directions provided with the application.

First time Stafford Loan borrowers are required by Federal Regulations to attend an Entrance Interview Session. You will be sent a list of scheduled sessions to choose from.

Students who attended summer sessions at another university must submit a Financial Aid Transcript form each school attended regardless of whether the student received Financial Aid.
