Continuing Students Financial Aid Guide

In order to qualify for financial assistance, it is critical that you submit all necessary forms on time. The deadline is April 6th for all continuing undergraduate students.

Eligibility for State, Federal and Institutional Aid is determined by continued Financial Need, Enrollment Status, and Maintenance of Academic Progress.

  • File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA takes 2 weeks to process. You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) in the mail as your confirmation. Confirm that all information is correct and that Fordham University is listed on the SAR. To make corrections to your FAFSA use "Corrections on the Web" to correct your FAFSA data and submit the corrections electronically. Click here to apply for your SFA PIN. • New York State Residents must file a New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) Application. New York State Higher Education Service Corporation (NYSHESC) determines TAP awards based on NYS net taxable income and dependency status. The student will receive an award certificate from NYSHESC. Fordham University must be listed on the award Certificate. If Fordham University is not listed on the Certificate, a TAP Change Form must be completed. A student must be enrolled Full Time to be considered for TAP, and have filed the FAFSA.
Continuing Undergraduate Students do not have to File the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE form except for the following reasons:
  • The student has been specifically requested to file the PROFILE form by the Office of Student Financial Services.
  • Students who have not received Fordham Grants or other Institutional Aid in the past and would like to be considered for institutional aid for the upcoming academic year must file the PROFILE.

Additional information may be requested of you in order to complete your application for Financial Aid or to clarify information. Please submit requested information as quickly as possible as not to impede the packaging process.
  • Be certain that all documents have been signed.
  • Fordham will send you a letter notifying you of your financial aid package. Read the letter and the enclosed guide carefully. Comply with all requirements.
  • Visit My.Fordham to accept awards online or return a signed copy of the award letter to your appropriate campus.

Electronic Processing- Fordham's electronic loan processing is the quickest and most efficient way to obtain a Stafford Loan. If your lender participates in NYS Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), loan proceeds are transferred electronically directly to the University to be applied to your student account. You will receive an application pre-certified by Fordham directly from your guarantor. Follow the directions provided with the application.

Students borrowing for the first time at Fordham are required by federal regulations to complete an "Entrance Interview" before proceeds of the loan (one half each semester) can be credited to your student account. If you have not done so already you can complete the Entrance Interview on-line here.

Students who attended summer sessions at another university must submit a Financial Aid Transcript form each school attended regardless of whether the student received Financial Aid.
