Music Performance Opportunities
Music plays a vital role in the intellectual life of Fordham University's undergraduates, teaching students the necessary skills to analyze and appreciate non-verbal modes of expression. Fordham students have the opportunity to perform with a multitude of ensembles, ranging from orchestra to choir to jazz and much more.

Fordham Lincoln Center Jazz Ensemble
- The Fordham Lincoln Center Jazz Ensemble (MUSC 1291) is conducted by Matthew Buttermann.
- Students are sorted into small, coached performing groups aiming toward a recital at the end of the semester.
- You have the option to take it for one or zero credits depending on your preference.
- There is a fee of $250 per student per semester.
Fordham Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra
- The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra (MUSC 1301) is conducted by Matthew Buttermann
- Students play in a larger group.
- The course can be taken for one credit or zero credits depending on your preference.
- There is a fee of $150 per student per semester.
Lincoln Center Chamber Orchestra
Afro-Latin Music Ensemble
The Afro-Latin Music Ensemble (MUSC 1302) focuses on traditional and popular music mainly from Ecuador and Colombia as well as popular Afro-Latin rhythms from across Latin America and the Caribbean.
Afro-Colombian and Afro-Ecuadorian musics include a variety of instruments such as hand drums, bass drums, shakers, guitar, and the marimba, all of which accompanies call-and-response singing. As Afro-Caribbean music is pervasive throughout the region and incorporated into traditional styles as well, students will also learn the fundamentals of various Latin American Instrumental techniques. The ensemble focuses on participatory music, so beginners are encouraged to join and play, while experienced musicians will still be able to advance their own techniques.
The ensemble is led by Juan Montoya. The ensemble usually meets on Tuesday evenings at Lincoln Center.

Collegium Musicum Fordhamense
Collegium Musicum Fordhamense (MUSC 1303) is a vocal and instrumental ensemble dedicated to exploring and presenting music stemming from the medieval and early modern traditions, performing once or more each semester.
Collegium seeks to create opportunities for hands-on experimentation with early repertoire, informed by, but not beholden to, current research into historical performance styles.
The Collegium is led by Tracy Cowart and Sian Ricketts, and is open to all members of the Fordham community who are interested in performing and learning about music.
Collegium Musicum usually meets on Tuesday evenings at Rose Hill.

Coached Chamber Music Groups
Students can enjoy playing chamber music together in a coached ensemble. The groups are coached by Fordham's network of private music teachers. Students are placed in appropriate small groups, with up to four players, by instrument and experience.
MUSC 1231 - Lab fee applied.
Students of the option to take coached chamber music for zero or one credit, depending on their preference.

Private Lessons
Fordham offers a way for students to take private music lessons (voice/instrument) at a discounted rate with our network of music instructors through the University.

Fordham University Symphony Orchestra
Fordham's orchestra (MUSC 1281) program is administered through Rose Hill Campus Life.
- It is open to all Fordham students (both undergraduate and graduate), faculty and staff.
- No auditions required.
- Students have the option to participate for one or zero credits.
