Rebecca Peters
Rebecca Peters was born in Manhattan, raised in the suburbs of New Jersey, and found her way back to New York City through Fordham University. She earned a four-year basketball scholarship and finished her career with over 1,000 points and as a captain during her senior year. Peters graduated from Fordham twice with a B.S. in public accountancy and an M.S. in accounting. After interning at Ernst and Young, she obtained a full-time position at EY in their audit practice, where she served financial services clients. After two years in public accounting, Becky worked as a project accountant for a real estate development company based in Brooklyn and mainly worked on the Empire Outlets project in Staten Island. Since 2016, she has supported charter schools with their day-to-day finances. This work began initially as a consultant, and then her efforts were explicitly focused at NYC Charter School of the Arts, an arts-integrated middle school in the Financial District. Since the summer of 2021, she has been a full-time entrepreneur, running her business, BX Bookkeeping, which focuses on small businesses and entrepreneurs and helps them with their bookkeeping and preparing their financial statements. She still supports charter schools as a financial consultant and as a board member of Bridge Prep Charter School in Staten Island. Since Fall 2018, she has been teaching at Fordham University, leading a course on DEI at the Gabelli School of Business. She has a thirst for knowledge and loves to travel.
