Guide to your Road to Tenure

This is a year by year guide to the types of reviews you are expected to complete leading up to your tenure year.

Year 1

First year as Tenure Track Faculty

  • Apply for Faculty Research Grant
  • Apply for Merit (Annually)
  • Complete Faculty Activity Report (annually)

Year 2

First Reappointment Review

  • By October 1, submit all appropriate documents to RPT System  for review

  • By December 15, notification will be sent of the results of your first Reappointment Review

Year 3

Second Reappointment Review

  • By September 15, apply for Faculty Fellowship
  • By February 15, submit all appropriate documents to RPT System for review
  • By May 15, notification will be sent of the results of the your second reappointment review

Year 4

First Faculty Fellowship

  • If you applied and received a Fellowship in Year 3, you can take you fellowship starting year 4

Year 5

Third & Final Reappointment

  • Final review and reappointment before tenure review
  • By February 15, submit all appropriate documents to RPT system for review
  • By May 15, notification will be sent of the results of the your third  reappointment review

Year 6

Tenure Review

  • By January 15,  submit all appropriate documents to RPT system  for review
  • By May 15, notification will be sent of the results of your tenure review.
  • Additional materials may be needed for external review letters before January 15.
