Javier Jiménez Belmonte’s research and teaching focus on medieval and early modern Spanish literature and culture, Renaissance and Baroque poetics, Spanish Orientalism, and Cervantes. He is the author of Las Obras en Verso del Príncipe de Esquilache: Amateurismo y Conciencia Literaria (Boydell & Brewer, 2007) and Estetizar el exceso: Cleopatra en la cultura hispánica medieval y del Siglo de Oro (Boydell & Brewer, 2018). He has edited the volumen España y el Islam: Relaciones hispano-musulmanas en la época imperial for eHumanista: Journal of Iberian Studies (University of California, Santa Barbara, 2018), and co-edited the volumen From Muses to Poets: New Approaches to Women and Poetry in Early Modern Iberia and Colonial Latin America for Calíope: Journal of the Society for Renaissanace and Baroque Hispanich Poetry (2017). He has published extensively on medieval and early modern Spanish literature and culture on La Corórina, Bulletin of Hispanic Studies, Hispanic Review, Calíope, and Colonial Latin American Review, among other international peer reviewed journals, and serves as reviewer for the Renaissance Quaterly (The Renaissance Society of America).
