Recap: How Big is Too Big?

Fordham Law Professor Zephyr Teachout discussed how companies like Facebook, Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft have grown to control many aspects of our public life, with concerning economic effects. Teachout’s talk particularly focused on Amazon and Facebook, as their rapid growth over the past two decades has lead to near total control of things like market pricing and digital advertising. While we may not be able to imagine our lives today without the services these companies provide, Teachout and McGannon Center Director Olivier Sylvain discussed the ways in which we might regulate these companies to allow continued innovation and smaller companies to thrive.
