Recap: Regulation of Online Reputation

On February 2, 2018, the Center’s Lunchtime Colloquium Series continued with a discussion of free speech and internet regulations with Prof. Arthur Hayes. Olivier Sylvain, director of the McGannon Center, kicked the event off by discussing a recent article by Dr. Hayes where the online parody of a scholar has resulted in legal consequences for the prankster. The two go on to explore the benefits of free speech, and its different variations around the world, and how America’s laws have not quite caught up with internet crime.
