Living the Mission
What does “Living the Mission” mean to you?
The Office of Mission Integration and Planning would like to highlight Fordham University's mission statement.
The objective is to reinvigorate the Fordham family of students, staff, administrators, and faculty with the powerful and life-giving message that Fordham’s history, heritage, and hopes are rooted in its proud Jesuit and Catholic identity. This core identity of Fordham fosters an insatiable desire to question, debate, and discern that which is good and also to help lead and serve those in need. Moreover, it reminds us again and again that being men and women for others is a chosen way of life necessary for society’s survival.
It is hoped that the efforts to direct new attention to Fordham’s primary mission will further energize and deepen our shared efforts in the ongoing discovery of wisdom and the transmission of learning through research and education of the highest quality. Guided by its Catholic and Jesuit traditions, Fordham is called to continuously foster the intellectual, moral, and religious development of its students as it prepares them for leadership in a global society.
The restlessness to do better and move beyond our comfort zones in order to seek superior ways of living life and serving others with purpose and passion is what sets us apart and provides such a unique understanding of what truly is Fordham University.
Throughout this entire academic year, let us take our beliefs, strengths, and passions to new and more vigorous heights through communally Living the Mission!
