Departmental Tutoring Services

Fordham College at Rose Hill offers tutoring services for most academic departments, free of charge. For any subject area not listed below, please consult with the associate chair for undergraduates of the department.

Biological Sciences

Biology student tutors are available for walk-in meetings in the Larkin Hall 1st Floor Student Lounge, on the following schedule for Fall 2019:

  • Mondays: 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. (Nathaniel)
  • Tuesdays: 4 - 6 p.m. (Samantha)
  • Wednesdays: 10 - 11 a.m. (Rachel); 4 - 6 p.m. (Samantha)
  • Thursdays: 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. (Nathaniel)
  • Fridays: 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. (Rachel)


The Department offers free tutoring for General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Quantitative Analysis courses, on a walk-in basis.

Classical Languages

Tutoring in Ancient Greek and Latin is available from Classics graduate student Mr. Joseph DiProperzio. Students should contact Mr. DiProperzio at to set up tutoring.

Computer Science

Tutoring is available for students in Structures of Computer Science (CISC 1100) and Discrete Structures (CISC 1400) on a walk-in basis. Students should visit the Department's Tutoring Room, located in JMH 312, which operates on the following schedule for Spring 2019:

  • Mondays: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Tuesdays: 12 - 5 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Thursdays: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Fridays: 12 - 5 p.m.


The Economics Department provides free tutoring in the following courses: ECON 1100 (Basic Macroeconomics), ECON 1200 (Basic Microeconomics), ECON 2140 (Statistics I), ECON 2142 (Statistical Decision Making), and ECON 3154 (Math for Economists I) on a walk-in or by-appointment basis. English/Writing Center

The Writing Center is located in Walsh Library, Reference Area, Room 121, and can be reached by phone at 718-817-0077. Students can schedule appointments online for the Writing Center.


The Math Help Room is located in JMH 410 and is staffed by Mathematics Department instructors. The Help Room hours for Spring 2019 are:

  • Mondays: 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • Tuesdays: 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Thursdays: 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.; 12:30 - 4:30 p.m.
  • Fridays: 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Modern Languages

Free tutoring, practice, and conversation is available in all languages taught by the department. Skilled upperclass language majors, student native speakers, and several course instructors serve as tutors. No appointment is needed, but check the Tutoring Schedule before you go (Faber 568).

The Language Learning Center in Keating B25 (RH) and LL 412 (LC) also provides instructional technology for language students, as well as access to international television stations and films.


The Philosophy Department offers one-on-one tutoring for students, upon request. For more information, contact Ms. Margaret Donovan.

Physics and Engineering Physics

The Department of Physics and Engineering Physics provides students with two different tutoring options: (1) walk-in peer tutoring during regularly scheduled hours (location: Freeman Hall 205), and (2) tutoring by appointment from Physics and Engineering Physics majors, for which students should contact the relevant tutor directly to confirm a time and location.


We are excited to announce the launch of the Psychology Education & Enrichment Representative (PEER) Tutoring Program. PEER Tutoring is open to all Fordham undergraduate students at Rose Hill and Lincoln Center (location varies by subject) and is free of charge. Tutoring is available for the following courses in Fall 2019:
