Aside from the MA in Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Care, Ph.D. Religious Education, and Doctor of Ministry programs, we accept applications on a "rolling" basis, meaning that they may be submitted at any time throughout the year. For more information about when the best time to apply is and to review specific program deadlines, explore the links below.

Overview of Deadlines

MA and Certificate Programs

Master's Degree and Certificate Programs

Except for the MA in Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Care program, MA and certificate applications are accepted on a "rolling" basis, meaning that they may be submitted at any time throughout the year.

Although all applications will be considered throughout the year, to allow sufficient time for review and registration planning, applicants who need ample time to organize before courses should consider the following suggested application deadlines:

  • July 15th for Fall semester admission
  • November 15th for Spring semester admission
  • April 15th for Summer session admission

Again, the above deadlines are just suggestions. All applications submitted before and later than these dates will be considered for admission on a "rolling" basis - we accept applications all year long and those admitted can begin at any time (Fall, Spring, Summer).

MA Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Care

MA Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Care

As a requirement of admission, all applicants to the MA Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Care program must be interviewed. So in order to offer applicants and faculty ample time to complete the interview process, applicants to this program should remain mindful of the deadlines below. All applicants who apply or whose application remains incomplete at the time of these deadlines will only be reviewed on a case by case basis. Thus, if your application is not ready for review by the deadline, there is no guarantee that it will be reviewed in time for you to begin in the semester you are applying to.

Fall/Summer Admission Deadlines

  • March 15th
  • April 15th
  • July 15th

Spring Admission Deadlines

  • September 15th
  • December 15th

Note: Applications and materials submitted prior to these deadlines, will not be reviewed until after the deadline closest to their submission has passed.

Online Programs

Online Students*

To have the best opportunity to register for online Fall/Summer courses, you should complete and submit your application by the last week in March or no later than one week prior than when the GRE opens its Fall/Summer registration in early April. For beginning your online studies in the Spring, the optimal time to have your application/materials in is the last week in October.

*This does not include the hybrid DMIN program

International Applicants

International Applicants

It is recommended that international students submit all application materials near the following dates as to allow for enough time for an application review, registration planning, and the processing of visas prior to the start of the semester:

  • June 1 for Fall semester admission
  • October 1 for Spring semester admission
  • March 1 for Summer session admission

International students who submit their application outside of these dates will be considered for admission on a "rolling" basis.

Ph.D. Religious Education

Ph.D. in Religious Education

February 1st each year for Fall Admission

Please note that new Ph.D. students are admitted only to begin in the subsequent Fall semester.

All Ph.D. applicants can expect to be notified of the Ph.D. committee's decision by early May. However, should the committee be delayed for any reason (e.g. weather), all Ph.D. applicants will be kept informed as to when they might expect to receive a decision.

Doctor of Ministry

Doctor of Ministry

  • November 1st for Spring admission
  • January 15th for late Spring or Summer session admission
  • April 15th for Fall semester admission

All DMIN applicants can expect to be notified of the committee's decision within four weeks of the application deadline. However, should the committee be delayed for any reason (e.g., weather, conflicts in schedules, etc.), all DMIN applicants will be kept informed as to when they might expect to receive a decision.

Decisions

All applicants who apply before the above-suggested deadlines, for MA and Certificate programs (excluding the Pastoral Counseling program), can expect to receive a decision within 2-3 weeks from the day that your application is complete.

All doctoral applicants and those applying to the MA Pastoral Counseling program will be informed of the admission committee's decision approximately three - four weeks after the application deadline. However, in some instances, due to unforeseen circumstances, the committee may take longer to decide. In these circumstances, all applicants will be kept informed as to when they might expect to receive a decision.

To check to see if your application is complete or to monitor decisions posted to your application, go to the Application Status page and log in using the same information that you did when accessing the application.
