GRE Application Deadlines

We accept applications year-round. Apply Today!

Aside from the M.A. in pastoral mental health counseling, the Ph.D. in religion and practice, and the Doctor of Ministry, we accept applications on a rolling basis.

PLEASE NOTE: The application deadlines for our M.A. in pastoral mental health counseling can be found on that program's application information/requirements page.

For deadlines of all other programs, review the information below.

Overview of Deadlines

  • Master's Degree and Certificate Programs

Master’s and advanced certificate program applications are accepted on a rolling basis (with the exception of the 60-credit M.A. in pastoral mental health counseling program). However, to allow sufficient time for your application to be reviewed before course registration opens, applicants should consider the following preferred deadlines:

    Preferred DeadlineTerm of Admission
April 15 (most master's and advanced certificate programs) Summer Semester
April 3 (advanced certificate in supervision only) Summer Semester
    July 15 Fall Semester
    November 15 Spring Semester
  • Online Students*

If you plan to begin your studies in either the Fall semester or during the Summer sessions, we advise that you submit your application by the last week in March. If you plan to begin your studies in the Spring semester, we advise that you submit your application by the last week in October.

Your application will still be considered if you submit it after these preferred deadlines. However, because GRE students register for online Fall/Summer courses in early April and for online Spring courses in early November, your preferred courses may be full by the time you are accepted and able to register.

*This does not include the hybrid D.Min. program

  • International Applicants

We recommend that international students submit all application materials by the following dates to allow sufficient time to have their applications reviewed, plan for registration, and process visas prior to the start of the semester:

    Preferred DeadlineTerm of Admission
    June 1 Fall Semester
    October 1 Spring Semester
    March 1 Summer Session
  • Ph.D. in Religious Education

The application deadline for Fall admission to the Ph.D. in Religious Education program is February 1. (Please note that all new Ph.D. students begin in the Fall semester.)

Applicants will be notified of the Ph.D. committee’s decision in early May.

  • Doctor of Ministry

    DeadlineTerm of Admission
    April 15 Fall Semester
    November 1 Spring Semester
January 15 Late Spring Semester or Summer Session

D.Min. applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision within four weeks of the application deadline. Should the committee be delayed for any reason, applicants will be kept informed about when they will receive a decision.

Decisions

Master’s and certificate program applicants who apply before the preferred deadlines (excluding the 60-credit M.A. in Pastoral Mental Health Counseling program) will receive a decision within two to three weeks from the day that your application is submitted.

Doctoral applicants and those applying to the 60-credit M.A. in pastoral mental health counseling program will receive a decision approximately three to four weeks after the application deadline.
