Graduate Assistantships

All eligible full-time graduate business students can apply to be considered for graduate assistant positions. Graduate assistantships fall into two primary categories: academic and administrative. Academic graduate assistants work closely with faculty on research projects and initiatives. Administrative graduate assistants work closely with a variety of business units within the business school to provide administrative support.

Graduate assistantships can range from 75 hours/term (5 hours per week per term) to 300 hours per term (20 hours per week per term). The table below shows the range in tuition remission benefit based on the hours worked per week per term.

Graduate assistant positions are highly selective. For the Fall 2022 term, our staff and faculty were allotted nearly 1350 hours of Graduate student assistance per week, which equates to nearly 120-175 Graduate Assistant positions for the Fall term. Nearly 70% of the positions are held by continuing students and 30% of the positions are held by incoming students.

Application opens for students, nearly 2 months prior to the beginning of each term.

Application submission closes for students about a month into the term. Staff and faculty review the applications as they are received. Staff and faculty have until the end of the second month of the term to reach out to applicants in order to offer graduate assistant positions. Once a supervisor and student agree to work together an approval form is provided by the supervisor. Graduate assistants are paid by tuition remission within 7-10 business days of having the approval form submitted.
