POSITION: Tech Support Assistant

SUPERVISOR: Tech Manager, Teaching & Learning Environment

SUMMARY

We are looking for several part-time remote student workers to help with Instructional Technology. The main responsibilities are to be available during the synchronous portion of faculty classes for assistance and also provide some support in loading videos and other digital items to their Bb courses. Additionally, the Tech Support Assistants can help configure Zoom so that students cannot enter a Zoom meeting unless the host is present. They will also admit students into the Zoom sessions so the faculty are not distracted from their teaching. Training will be provided for all teaching software being used.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a registered Fordham University student in good standing
  • Graphic Design and Media Creation background and/or experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong presentation and training skills
  • Genuine interest in technology; stays informed of the latest tech advances

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Moderating the chat
  • Setting up and monitoring breakout rooms
  • Setting up and administering polling
  • Sharing whiteboards
  • Offering support to students with issues like not being able to see video or hear audio
  • Muting/unmuting students
  • Making sure the video is recording and loading it to Panopto
  • Helping with basic trim of video recording
  • Enabling security and privacy settings
  • Other duties as assigned

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE (Training Provided)

  • Advanced PowerPoint and experience with HTML a plus
  • Familiarity with audio/image/video formats and compression settings
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop/Illustrator (or similar software) required

COMPENSATION: $16.00 per hour
