The Fordham Corporate Law Center brings together scholars, professionals, policy-makers, and students to study and discuss issues in current business and financial law. Designed in 2001 as a think tank for research in business and financial law, the Center convenes public lectures, roundtable discussions, expert panels, and academic symposia. The Center is also a platform to showcase business law scholarship of Fordham Law faculty and research affiliates in a wide variety of financial sub-specialties. In addition, the Center serves as a resource for Fordham Law students, connecting them to our distinguished alumni through our Business Law Practitioners Series (BLPS) and mentoring programs.
In July 2014, Law Street Media ranked Fordham Law School #6 in the Top Ten Law Schools for Business Law, giving special recognition to the law school’s excellent programs and numerous course offerings. Also noted was the Fordham Corporate Law Forum, a blog shared by the Corporate Law Center and the Fordham Journal of Corporate and; Financial Law.
One of the largest growth areas in the legal industry today is corporate compliance. ;Fordham Law School is at the forefront of compliance education, offering specialized compliance courses to both JD and LLM students. Beginning in Fall 2014, Fordham is the first U.S. law school to offer an LLM degree in Corporate Compliance open to both international and U.S. JD’s. Comprehensive training programs for compliance professionals that focus on the fundamentals of corporate compliance and the role of a compliance officer are offered through the Corporate Compliance Institute under the auspices of the Corporate Law Center and the Fordham Gabelli School of Business. A new masters program in Corporate Compliance (MSL) for non-lawyers will be available in Spring 2015. The Corporate Law Center is instrumental in both the development and administration of these programs and supports outreach efforts and networking opportunities that include the recently established. Alumni Compliance Affinity Group and new student group, Fordham Compliance and Ethics Society, open to all Fordham Law students.
