Students who major in history must complete ten courses:

A list of courses fulfilling the Understanding Historical Change requirement can be seen on the Core Curriculum page and have the HC attribute. Students in the FCRH Honors Program may fulfill this requirement with HPRH 1203 Foundational Topics: History.

Students in the FCRH Honors Program may count HPRH 2102 Focused Study: History towards either, but not both, of these requirements.

Seminar courses include any course numbered HIST 4600-4998, any 5000 level course, or (for Honors Program students), HPRH 4001 Senior Thesis.

Students may substitute a second Understanding Historical Change for one of required upper-level courses. Any HIST course numbered HIST 3000-4599 may fulfill the upper-level course requirement, in addition to the courses listed below with the HIUL attribute. 

An AP History score of 4 or 5 can replace two of the student's upper-level electives in history.

In addition, up to two History courses from study abroad can count for upper-level electives.
