Hopeton Campbell is the Manager of the Digital Media Lab at Fordham University’s Communication and Media Studies Department. He is the system administrator responsible for purchasing, installing, and maintaining the computer equipment and provides technical support for video and new media courses taught in the lab. He also trains and supervises student workers, handles the day-to-day operations of the lab, and offers technical support for the classes that are taught there.
He is also an adjunct new media instructor with extensive experience in training students and faculty in the use of technology.
Hopeton Campbell has been teaching new media classes at Fordham for the past sixteen years. He has taught classes at Rose Hill, Lincoln Center and the Westchester campus. Classes taught include Television Production, Digital Design for New Media, Multimedia Production, and Intro to Journalism, using such programs as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Flash, Adobe InDesign, and Pro Tools.
During the summer of 2013, He ran a three-day workshop where he had the opportunity to instruct faculty members from both campuses in the use of new and emerging technologies and how best to integrate them into their curriculum.
Prior to working at Fordham University, Hopeton worked at Booz*Allen & Hamilton, INC. as a System Administrator and Project Manager. Some of his responsibilities include the development and roll out of the library’s web page for the Global Information Professional Communication (IPC) group, maintaining the library’s automation system running on a Sun Sparc Unix system, creating and configuring user accounts for each library worldwide, running system reports, and coordinating system backups between the European and U.S. offices.
In addition to trouble-shooting and solving system problems in the New York, Germany, and England offices, he supervised three people on various team projects involving the computer automation of the New York library as well as trained assistants from London and Dusseldorf to use and maintain their own system.
