Sustained Dialogues

The Sustained Dialogue Series is an opportunity to bring together community members on a regular basis to engage in thoughtful and authentic exchange on a variety of topics in order to name and transform their world. In our dialogues, we provide an open and inviting space for reflection and the enhancement of self-awareness, knowledge, critical thinking and communication skills. Dialogue literally means “through the word,” which is a great way to encourage intercultural exchange in order to increase understanding and bring about social change. The Sustained Dialogue Series encourages and promotes the openness of mind and willingness of heart to learn, explore, ask questions, and enjoy competent intercultural communication.

Dialogue Objectives

  • Enhancing self-awareness, the knowledge of cultures other than one’s own, and the skills to engage in cross-cultural exchange.
  • Understanding and applying the following principles: maintaining a social justice lens, attending to both process and content, engaging in self-reflection and action-thinking.
