Dr. Philip Dituri is a visiting assistant professor of mathematics education in the Division of Curriculum and Teaching at Fordham University.
Dr. Dituri is a NYS certified teacher of secondary Mathematics. He was a mathematics instructional coach, chairperson of the mathematics department, and teacher of secondary mathematics at New Design High School in Lower Manhattan’s Seward Park Campus for 13 years. During his time teaching in public school, he was a three-time Math for America Master Teacher and a Big Apple award finalist. He also served on the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Committee to evaluate and write the Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood Mathematics Standards.
Dr. Dituri also works very closely with the Center for Mathematical Talent at the Courant Institute of Mathematics at NYU to generate excitement around mathematics and bring extracurricular mathematics to young students in New York City’s schools.
Dr. Dituri has also done extensive work in developing a high school course in financial mathematics called FiCycle. This curriculum is aimed at spreading financial literacy by teaching the core concepts of personal finance in a mathematically rigorous manner to high school students from all around the tri-state area.
