Biography

Janet DiLorenzo is an associate assistant professor in marketing at the Gabelli School of Business, where she teaches Consumer Behavior, Global Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Marketing Principles, and The Ground Floor. She helped to develop the Marketing Consulting course, which has given hundreds of undergraduates the opportunity to develop real marketing plans for nonprofit clients in the Bronx and elsewhere in the New York metropolitan area. She also helped to design the Gabelli School’s internship-for-credit program, and she leads undergraduate study tours, often to Europe, that increase students’ awareness of global business.

Dr. DiLorenzo began her marketing career in the executive buying program at Lord and Taylor, worked as a marketing sales representative at Mobil Oil Corporation, and was a training representative at Dale Carnegie. Her marketing experience led her to establish JRD Communications, through which she has been a consultant for more than 25 years. Her past clients include Ralph Lauren, Canon, MCI, Time Warner, DeCicco and Sons Family Market, and many startups.

In addition to Fordham, Dr. DiLorenzo taught marketing at St. John’s University, where she served as assistant to the dean and developed an internship program. She was named Businessweek’s Professor of the Year in 2007, and she has won numerous Fordham teaching honors, including the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 1993 and 2000 and the Cura Personalis Award in 2015. Both of her children are Fordham alumni.
