Biography

Christine Janssen is the director of the entrepreneurship program at the Gabelli School of Business and co-founder of the Center for Entrepreneurship at Fordham University and the Fordham Foundry, a small-business incubator in the Bronx that was launched in 2012. Her commitment to hands-on entrepreneurship instruction, based on a constantly changing curriculum designed to sync with the forward-thinking skills business demands, has made the entrepreneurship program one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing at the undergraduate level.

Dr. Janssen came to Fordham with significant business-world experience. Her background in marketing, market research, new product development, and business development spans nearly a quarter-century. In her career, she worked in a variety of industries including consumer goods, interior design, education, information technology, and financial services. Prior to embarking on her academic career, in 2007 she founded Denken Research & Consulting, a boutique firm in New York City, providing end-to-end research, consulting, writing, and education services for local startups, particularly those run by female entrepreneurs.

Before joining the Fordham faculty in 2009 as an adjunct professor in Fordham's College of Liberal Studies, Dr. Janssen taught for four years at the Mountbatten Institute, a New York-based international internship program affiliated with the U.K.'s Cambridge University. Since becoming a full-time faculty member of the Gabelli School of Business in 2010, she has taught a variety of management courses and, most notably, has been the visionary behind the entrepreneurship program, from curriculum development and teaching to extracurricular leadership roles and external collaborative efforts.

Dr. Janssen holds a BS in marketing from the University of South Florida, a Global MBA in communications and information systems and finance from Fordham, and a PhD from New York University, where her dissertation focused on how entrepreneurs learn.
