Guidance on Employee Pay and Working from Home
Accounting Services and Payroll Services have contingency plans in order to continue payroll operations remotely and off-site in the event it becomes necessary. Payroll personnel are set up with access to run remote payroll operations, and remote testing has already been performed.
If an employee is relieved from reporting to the University, they must be ready and willing to work in order to continue to be paid. Supervisors must make arrangements for employees who are relieved from reporting to campus, to work remotely to the greatest extent possible. Employees who are relieved from reporting to campus must remain at home during working hours and must restrict non-essential travel.
- Existing full-time, part-time benefited, and part-time exempt employees who have signed up for direct deposit will continue to receive ACH pay checks without service interruption.
- Existing full-time, part-time benefited, and part-time exempt employees who receive paper checks will continue to receive paper checks mailed to their permanent address on record. Off-site printing arrangements are being made.
- Hourly employees will continue to complete electronic timesheets if they are working remotely and will continue to be paid.
- Students who were employed as part of the Federal Work Study Program through the Office of Student Employment and who were working at the time the University ceased face-to-face instruction will continue to be paid. Pay will be disbursed on its regular schedule through the completion of the Spring semester.
New Hire Paperwork, Payment Requests and Personal Information Changes
Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) is set up to continue HR operations remotely for processing new hires as well as updates to personal information, salary, positions and benefits.
Employee action documentation is currently uploaded to the department Google Drive or emailed to HRISinfo@fordham.edu and this process will continue.
To the extent possible, we are asking that the hiring of new employees be delayed until normal operations resume. If an offer has already been extended to a new employee to start during the period of disruption, we are modifying the method in which HR receives their information and processes their new hire paperwork.
