Adjunct Professor of Law



Roberta Smith is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Fordham Law School where she teaches a Judicial Externship Seminar to law students working in Judges’ chambers. Prior to joining the Adjunct Faculty at Fordham, Professor Smith was a Staff Attorney in the Pro Se Office of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. She was also previously a Litigation Associate at the New York office of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart LLP and at Hill & Barlow in Boston.

In addition, Professor Smith clerked for the Honorable Kathleen A. Roberts, United States Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of New York. Professor Smith graduated from Dartmouth College, cum laude, in 1989 and is a 1992 graduate of New York University School of Law, where she was the recipient of two American Jurisprudence Awards for excellent academic achievement and a Marden Advocacy Award.

She has been a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association’s Commercial and Federal Litigation Section, for which she served as the chairperson of its Federal Courts Counsel Committee, and also a member of the Committee on Law Student Perspectives of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
