International Opportunities

Boren Fellowship
Funding for graduate students to conduct international travel, study/research, and language study in countries critical to U.S. national security. The Boren program provides awards up to $30,000 to support research and study abroad in Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and the Middle East. Churchill Scholarship
The Churchill Scholarship and Kanders Churchill Scholarship provide funding to American students for a year of Master’s study at the University of Cambridge, based at Churchill College. Scholars focus on STEM subjects and receive an opportunity for independent research (often leading to publications). University endorsement of applicants is required. Critical Language Scholarship (CLS)
CLS offers summer language institutes in thirteen critical languages: Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish, and Urdu. The program includes intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences designed to promote rapid language gains. DAAD Graduate Scholarships

DAAD Undergraduate Scholarships

DAAD RISE Professional Internship
Career-building internships in Germany in fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering. DAAD RISE Summer Internship
Interns in fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering are matched with doctoral students in research groups across Germany. DAAD University Summer Course Grant
Scholarships to attend 3 to 4-week summer courses at German universities which focus on the literary, cultural, political and economic aspects of modern Germany. Also involves an extensive extracurricular program. Emerging Markets Development Advisers Program (EMDAP)
One-year professional assignments in developing countries in positions involving business management assistance to small and medium sized businesses in the country. Available to current MBA students and Master’s students in related fields, as well as recent graduates of Master’s or MBA programs.

Fulbright U.S. Student Grant
The Fulbright program funds year-long academic and cultural international exchanges that allow students from a wide array of disciplines to teach English, conduct independent research, pursue graduate degrees, and work in foreign government ministries, in addition to other specialized opportunities. Gates Cambridge Scholarship
Gates Cambridge scholars receive full-cost funding to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge. Available to seniors, alumni, and graduate students. German Chancellor Fellowship for Prospective Leaders (Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation)
The German Chancellor Fellowship offers recent graduates an opportunity to explore career opportunities in Germany in any field of work. Applicants should develop a project idea and find the host to serve as a mentor. Available to seniors, alumni, and graduate students who can provide evidence of outstanding leadership skills.

Pamela Harriman Foreign Service Fellowships
The Pamela Harriman Foreign Service Fellows receive a stipend and placement in summer professional positions with the U.S. Department of State in Washington, DC, and the U.S. Embassies in London and Paris. Available to juniors and seniors who have been accepted into the State Department summer internship program.

Henry Luce Scholars Program
The Luce Scholars Program is a nationally competitive fellowship program designed to enhance the understanding of Asia among potential leaders in American society. The program provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia for 15-18 Luce Scholars each year, and welcomes applications from college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals in a variety of fields who have had limited exposure to Asia. Marshall Scholarship
Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high ability to study for a graduate degree in the United Kingdom. Up to forty Scholars are selected each year to study at graduate level at an UK institution in any field of study. The scholarship is awarded for two years of graduate study, with the possibility of a third year extension. University endorsement of applicants is required. George J. Mitchell Scholarship
Up to twelve Mitchell Scholars between the ages of 18 and 30 are chosen annually for one academic year of postgraduate study in any discipline offered by institutions of higher learning in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Applicants are judged on scholarship, leadership, and a sustained commitment to community and public service. The Mitchell Scholarship Program provides tuition, accommodation, a stipend for living expenses and travel. University endorsement of applicants is required. Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants
Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants, in the amount of $1000, are designed to recognize and assist undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad. For information regarding the campus application process, contact the campus representative: Dr. Marisa Iglesias miglesias5@fordham.edu.

Rhodes Scholarship
Supports scholars from the US to study for two years at Oxford University. The Scholarship covers all educational costs for a two or three year program in any discipline or course of study available at Oxford University. University endorsement of applicants is required. Saint Andrew's Society Of New York Scholarship
Provides scholarships of up to $35,000 to three outstanding U.S. students of Scottish descent each year for graduate study in Scotland. The scholarship may be used for tuition, room and board, and other expenses. University endorsement of applicants is required. Schwarzman Scholarship
Provides students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and professional networks through a one-year Master’s Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing – one of China’s most prestigious universities. U.S. Department of State Internship Program
The U.S. Department of State Student Internship Program is an unpaid internship with the opportunity to work in U.S. embassies and consulates throughout the world, as well as in various bureaus located in Washington, D.C. and at Department offices around the United States. This program is designed to provide substantive learning experiences in a foreign affairs environment. For enrolled students only.

ThinkSwiss Research Scholarship
ThinkSwiss Scholarships support highly motivated and qualified U.S. and Canadian undergraduate and graduate students to get a research experience or to participate in a summer school course in Switzerland. For enrolled students only.

UK Fulbright Commission Summer Institutes
The Fulbright UK Summer Institutes are three-to-four week programmes for US undergraduate students. Participants can explore the culture, heritage and history of the UK while experiencing higher education at a UK university. US-Japan Bridging Foundation Scholarship
The Bridging Project offers scholarships of up to $5,000 to American undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs in Japan.

Humanity in Action
The Humanity in Action Fellowship is a year-long program dedicated to the exploration of communities and how they co-exist across the globe. Fellows first participate in an intensive four-week educational program in either Atlanta, Berlin, Warsaw, Amsterdam, Sarajevo, or Copenhagen, where they will investigate topics such as human rights, democracy, and structural injustice through workshops, local site visits, and discussions with local organization representatives. Fellows then return home to develop civil society initiatives in their own communities.
