Widgets and Supplements

Widgets

Widgets are only used on Homepages

While on a Homepage

  1. Find the widget you want in the left-hand column
  2. Click and drag the Widget into Row 1
  3. Click on “Properties” (wrench icon) to begin editing the widget
  4. Click on “Save”
  5. Save the Homepage
  6. On the top right corner, click "Submit for Approval”
  7. Comments are not needed, click "Send for Approval"
  8. If you are a Publisher, click the green "Approve" button. If you are a Web Manager, your updates must be approved by your Publisher.

Adding Multiple Widgets to a Homepage

To add multiple widgets in different rows:

  1. In the upper left, find the Rows box and click the +
  2. This generates a new row (Row 2) when first used. Each time you click the + it adds additional rows (Row 3, 4, 5, etc.) that you can add widgets to design your homepage. Reorder rows by dragging and releasing in order of preference
  3. Find the widget you want in the left-hand column
  4. Click and drag the widget into the Row you want it in
  5. Click on “Properties” (wrench icon) to begin editing the widget
  6. Click on “Save”
  7. Save the Homepage
  8. On the top right corner, click "Submit for Approval”
  9. Comments are not needed, click "Send for Approval"
  10. If you are a Publisher, click the green "Approve" button. If you are a Web Manager, your updates must be approved by your Publisher.

Adding Multiple Widgets to a Row

To add multiple widgets in the same row:

  1. Find the widget you want in the left-hand column
  2. Click and drag the Widget into Row 1
  3. Widgets in the Row will adjust in size
  4. If you want to change the size of a Widget, click on the Widget you wish to change
  5. In the left-hand column, under Width, type a number or use the slider to set the percentage of space the Widget uses in the Row
  6. Click on “Save”
  7. Save the Homepage
  8. On the top right corner, click "Submit for Approval”
  9. Comments are not needed, click "Send for Approval"
  10. If you are a Publisher, click the green "Approve" button. If you are a Web Manager, your updates must be approved by your Publisher.

Commonly Used Widgets Examples

  • Content: Provides space to create text, insert images, and insert videos
  • Highlighted Programs: Creates five boxes for text and images to direct to highlighted pages (2nd row)
  • Navigation: Creates a stylized navigation links widget
  • Spotlights: Creates a news feed via RSS feed and a static featured image and article (3rd row)
  • Image: Creates an image that can be hyperlinked; caption is optional.
  • Video: Inserts embedded video

Supplements

Supplements can be used on Homepages and Document Pages

While on a Homepage or Document Page

  1. Click on “Page Supplements” in the upper left.
  2. Click on “Add one now!”
  3. Select a supplement type.
  4. Fill the information fields for the supplement.
  5. Select a placement for the supplement.
  6. Right does not work properly.
  7. Click on “Save Supplement”.

Supplement Naming Convention

  • When naming supplements, follow the naming guidelines to prevent difficulties in finding them:
    Department/Center | Name of Section

    i.e. Office of Prestigious Fellowship | Administration

Reorder Supplements

  1. Click on “Page Supplements” in the upper left.
  2. Select the placement of the supplements you wish to reorder.
  3. Click on the arrows displayed on the right-hand side to change the order.
  4. Click “Save” at the bottom of the screen.

Edit a Supplement

  1. Click on “Page Supplements” in the upper left.
  2. Select the placement of the supplement you wish to edit.
  3. Click on the supplement you wish to edit.
  4. Edit the supplement, and click “Save” at the bottom of the screen.

Add an Existing Supplement

  1. Click on “Page Supplements” in the upper left.
  2. Select the type of Supplement you wish to add.
  3. In the “Select Existing” field, select the name of the Supplement you wish to use from the dropdown menu.
  4. Click “Save” at the bottom of the page.
