Julia Bouwsma: Winner of the 2018 POL Prize
Julia Bouwsma’s debut collection, Work by Bloodlight (Cider Press Review, 2017), was selected by Linda Pastan for the 2015 Cider Press Review Book Award. Her poems and reviews can be found in Bellingham Review, Colorado Review, Cutthroat, Muzzle, Puerto del Sol, RHINO, River Styx, Salamander, and others. A former Managing Editor for Alice James Books, she currently serves as Book Review Editor for Connotation Press: An Online Artifact and as Library Director for Webster Library in Kingfield, Maine. She lives and works on an off-the-grid farm in the mountains of western Maine.
Henk Roussouw: Winner of the 2018 POL Editor’s Prize
Originally from Cape Town, Henk Rossouw has poems in The Paris Review, Transom, The Massachusetts Review, The Common, Blackbird, and The Boston Review. He’s also published nonfiction in The Threepenny Review and The Chronicle Review, an interview with Nadine Gordimer in The Virginia Quarterly Review, and short fiction in Tin House. He holds an MFA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Ph.D. in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Houston, where he served as a poetry editor for Gulf Coast. An excerpt from Xamissa will be included in Best American Experimental Writing 2018 (Wesleyan University Press). He teaches as a visiting assistant professor in the University of Houston's Honors College.
